talk to BT about those questions. Also, are you still in a contract with Sky? if not and they hit you with a installation charge, tell them you will leave and join Virgin media (use to be NTL), you will find they will back down, but have that conversation around wednesday. A year ago, i moved, sky wanted £49.99 for new installation, they did it for free when i threaten to leave, and go with virgin.
as for sky broadband, go for the bottom package, visit https://www.sky.com the bottom package is free.
lastly, if you dont get any joy with bt, I found sky was able to honestly tell me internet speeds etc.. and there website is also good, as it does it automatically, good luck
noithing wrong with being non-tech, thats what this sites about, helpingTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
thanks Lee - you're a star - mind you, speaking to BT could be tricky - held for 35.37 mins this evening and then got cut off because the helpdesk was 'now closed'! the joys of customer service ;o)
thanks x Claire
PS - I did call Sky and they told me that I need to have an active BT landline on BT Together Option 1, and then they can either do the 'middle pack' of 8mb download speed, up to 40GB PCM at £5 PCM or a broadband & TV package (currently pay £19 PCM for Sky TV) on the same terms at £29 PCM; OR the 'MAX' package which is 16MB download speed (if the line can take it) and unlimited amounts per month at £10 PCM or if broadband and same TV package then £34 PCM. This includes free unlimited landline calls (to 01 or 02 numbers, and no more then 59 minutes per call), and all 08 numbers are 'normal rates' which she did not have to hand! and calls to mobiles are '25% cheaper' though she could not tell me what they were cheaper than or what the prices were - think the poor love was a novice and I caught her on an off day as had to keep putting me on hold to ask the questions! Looks like I shoudl take the separate packages though based on this price so might have to call back! both cost £30 'setup', so thanks for the tip about the installation charges as well.

Hi there
I was just wondering whether you really need sky. I tend to use my computer for home educating my son and I use Youtube and other tv channels via the internet as a learning tool.
I used to think that sky would be a great resource, but with a good broadband package, I realised that I would not have time for sky.
I use Plusnet which has a free download time during midnight and 8am and then I think it is a 2gb download, which if you go over they automatically deduct the extra money, I can't remember how much. I like this deal as I am not tied to Plusnet and therefore if I move I do not incur any charges.
For the phone I have the BT option 2 and use it only for evening and weekend calls for up to an hour. Then thanks to Martin :money: I now call during the day as well using the 18185 number, where I do not have to keep an eye on the time. I can talk as much as I like, as each call is 5p connection charge. (This only applies to landlines.) My son is also really pleased because I allow him to talk to his friends over the phone too.:j
I don't know whether there is a cheaper option, though this works for me at the moment as it does not tie me down to any company.
I hope this has helped.
Best Wishes

You don't say what you are paying for plusnet, however you are paying a premium for BT Together Option 2.(£3.45 p.m)
The cheapest Sky package is £16 a month for TV, free broadband, and free evening and weekend calls.(plus BT line rental of £10.50).That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I want to get sky just for the sport. I also need to improve my broadband and phone deals. I am not tied in to any deals at the moment. Is the best option Sky see, speak, surf? or is it cheaper to get sky sports package and shop around for phone broadband deals. In my area I can only get sky connect broadband. I don't know how much I download, unlimited package at moment but only surf web and don't download music or films - is there any way of checking stats for last few months? Phone (BT) is about £120 p/q mostly weekends and evenings and about 25% mobiles.

Hi all,
OK we are currently with Virgin Media and are paying £60 ish a month now for TV and sports, Free UK evenings and week end calls and Broadband. I had haggled it down to £44 before but every month my bill comes in for £60 and I'm sick and tired of being on the phone to claim money back.
So now we are moving houses I phoned Sky to ask what deal they could do us, this is what the chap offered:
TV + Sports £28 a month, Internet 8 Meg £10 a month, then free UK landline evening and week end calls when we are set up with BT.
Installation fee for the above £30, but free sky box.
Asked about Sky+ (which we would love to have) he said £99 then we can do what we like as in no additional charge for usage.
Asked about multiroom, he will do the Sky+box for £49, throw in a free additional Sky box and wave the installation fee, but a £10 a month is required.
So all in all I am looking at £48 a month for Sky TV+ sports, broadband, telephone and multiroom with 2 boxes, one of which being Sky+ costing us £49.
Is that a good deal or have I still got room for manoeuvre?? The chap is ringing back tomorrow night...
Tell us what you think guys, I feel I'm a good haggler but have lost track of what best deals there are to get at the minute.
Thanks ever so!!!
