I recently downgraded from BT Broadband to PAYG dial-up as i was going on holiday. I'm looking to get Sky Broadband on the line now, can this be done instantly or will i have to wait a few days for broadband to be re-activated on my line?
it will have to be activated on the line before it can be used

Post back if you need any help, I'm on call tonight so may not be able to reply straight away but if possible we will get you up and running without you having to ring in again.

Just caught up with your message PaulK, Sky has been working brilliantly since my last post. Perhaps you were right in saying it can take the line some time to settle down. It is certainly faster than my previous AOL connection.
Thanks again for your help, I will remember you if I need any assistance in future but hope not to.

There is not training period for Sky base mid or max broadband. A training period of 10 days only applies to the Sky connect (re branded BT service).
What will change during the day is your noise margin, its normally higher in the day(good) and gets lower during the night(bad). Its the same as with medium wave radios suffer from interference after dark.
Internal wiring can make this worse.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Friend has just signed up for sky with £5 a month broadband but looking on 'samknows' at the exchange it is not LLU for sky or anyone else. As far as i was aware they can only offer sky 'connect' at £17 in this case.
Will they honour the £5 deal when they realise its not LLU??

Possibly if the exchange will be LLU'ed in the near future.

There is no date given for the LLU upgrade at the exchange unfortunately.
