    Advice needed
We have just activated our sky BB today and all seemed to be fine this afternoon. This evening we could not get logged on for some time, eventually we did so. Is this usual?

It's usual to leave your router on 24/7.

If it was an issue logging into sky.com then it was a server glitch last night. If it was just actually getting up and running on the internet itself then you may need to check your setup.
Also note there is a 3 day grace period while everything settles, not totally needed on the MAX package but it helps to just wait a day or 2.
As to email you can add up to 9 additional email accounts to the main account, log in to mysky, click on manage profile, view additional users. You can add the accounts there.
Most info can be found on sky.com, sky help center, click on sky online. Will save you calling up and paying to be told stuff you can read for free ;)

Thanks for that info PaulK, It was in issue logging into the sky.com last night as you suggested it would have been a server glitch. It took ages to get on having been fine during the day. Not a good start. OH was not in the best of moods by that time as he was trying to work. Technical help were not helpful and they just didn't seem to grasp what my OH was saying. In the end he had to end the conversation as he was becoming irate! not something he usually does. I rang customer services to cancel as I am aware there is an 8 day grace period. The lady was very helpful and as you suggested, said it can take a couple of days to settle.
The email thing, well, I don't quite know what he did to be honest as he usually does all that sort of thing. He had set up an email address for me without problem but to try and sort his one out was a problem. I am not sure if he tried to change his main account email to something more memorable or which I guess you perhaps can't and then tried to set up a new one for himself. Anyhow it then got complicated with passwords not being recognised etc. He tried to like you have suggested the manage profile thing but it would not recognise his password. He went to bed not a happy chappy. He said he will try technical help again to try and sort out this password error thing
OMG this is so long winded I guess I am unloading my stress as I was the piggy in the middle last night. He has manflu on top of all this so I think I will emigrate today :D Any ideas?

You cannot change the main account email but you can just add a new one of your choosing to the sky.com account. All email sub accounts must be created using sky.com while logged in as the main user name on the account itself.
If he logs into sky.com on the main account user name and password (do not put @sky.com on the end) and then go into mysky, you should see the option there for managing the profile etc. Once the new account is created he will then need to log out of sky.com and then go through the motion of logging in with the new account user name and password.
One thing to remember is that the account must be 6 characters or more and must contain at least one numeral. Failing to do this will stop the password from being accepted anyway.

If all goes well your connection will be down for a couple of hours.
If it goes badly, like it did with me, you could be off line for 3 months.
Faulty DSLAM ports in the exchange, and BT who couldn't be arsed to fix it.
Although its Skys equipment, BT only allow their people to work in the exchange.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

It only took 10 days for me to change over to sky from aol.
On the day of transfer my conection was only down for about 30 minutes.
I have found sky to be good i have had the same problem on the odd occasion that i could not log into my emails.
I have set my emails to come in to outlook.
  • I recently downgraded from BT Broadband to PAYG dial-up as i was going on holiday. I'm looking to get Sky Broadband on the line now, can this be done instantly or will i have to wait a few days for broadband to be re-activated on my line?
