Sky has offered Line rental only for about the past month. It is 50p cheaper than BT Line rental (option 1) with paper-less billing.
  • but i dont have to pay for calls which i have no intention of making which is what makes it a better deal for me
e.g i pay bt about £75 every 3 months the equivalent from sky should cost £30 plus say an extra £10 for calls every 3 months so am saving about £35 every 3 months

Don't know where you are getting your savings from as BT line rental is only 50p a month more than Skys. Assuming you are on BT together Option 1, and you are not making any calls.
Don't know whether Sky will LLU your telephony as well as your broadband, but if they do and its the same as Talk Talk, then if you ever want to change ISP you will have to pay BT £125 to reconnect you.

  • we very rarely use the phone so why am i paying £75 every 3 months if it is only 50p/month dearer than sky?

You are probably on the wrong tariff, check you phone bill, the lowest price one is BT Together Option 1.

Even option 3 only costs £55 odd a quarter, you are not paying them for broadband as well are you?
Or maybe someone is using your phone without your knowledge.

If it were me I'd be ringing BT pdq.

  • dont forget that BT 'fine' you @£2.50 for not using your phone line each month!!!

Do you mean they charge you for caller display? All you have to do is make a couple of calls prefixed by 1280 to avoid this (assuming you are on Sky talk or Talk talk)

that sounds about right-sometimes they get wavered tho

also-i noticed sky offer line rental, it says so on the site-but i couldn/t find anywhere to actually order sky line rental- ihas anyone got a direct link to getting it from sky? I am looking to join sky for tv/broadband as i have just moved-and would rather have the 1 contract and have it all from sky, rather than needing a 2nd contract with bt

when i phoned and asked if i could get line rental from sky, i was told no?as normal though, prob CS not fully knowing?!

Does anyone have a link direct to the sky line rental-i simply cannot seem to find how to order it,

Note if you use the likes of 1899/18866/18185 Sky are likely to block them.
