Hi there
Any thoughts or experiences from Sky's bundled package? I really dislike the idea of handing my money to Mr Murdoch, but I want Sky Sports
Looking around on the Sky site, it seems I can get the Sports channels, 40 gig download a month with the broadband and free evening and weekend calls all for £39.00 a month. Not bad considering my Pipex broadband is £15 a month for a capped 2 gig download.
But...
I know it's only short term, but I REALLY need as little broadband downtime during the switch for work reasons. How long am I likely to be without boradband as the MAC codes go through? (Pipex left me high and dry for six weeks during a house move.)
And will I be able to still use my Linksys router and modem which is configured for ADSL? It was a right pain setting it all up and I don't want to have to go through that again. Just a nice plug and play please.
Still worth switching?
Any positive or negative experiences greatly welcome.
Thanks.
I have been waiting over a month for Sky to connect me after a move from Pipex. They seem totally unable to do it. Their favourite game is to blame BT. If you want a quick move do not even consider Sky.
Details available if you IM (at work!), Anyone else would be totally bored by the tedious and unfinished tale.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0 -

I am a sky customer and have just got my mac code from tiscali so i can add the broadband to my sky.. i have been requesting the base 2mg broadband but sky are telling me that there is only the max available which will cost me £17 a month. i did tell them that i couldn't afford to pay that so they just said they would contact me when/if the base comes available.
so anybody any tips as to what i can say/do to get them to let me have the fre base package.0 -
You can only get base, mid or max if sky have their own equipment in your exchange. If they don't then it's the Connect package at £17 they can give you.Keeping the pedants at bay - dot an i or cross a t only if you feel you really can't stop yourself:p0

hey jayb.
I had exact same problem. so what i did is, when bt cut u off one day and put u back on..the service at sky is automatically cancelled..hence ur off the hook for 12months contract. dont renew it. let them cancel it even if it takes 30months.. i say keep the sky tv and move to a new service provite. I left the old adsl and went with Adsl+2 offered by Bethere. They are nothing short of fantastic. I was getting 1mb/s with sky when i paid for 16meg.. with BE am paying for 24mb/s but i get constant 11mb/s which is excellent.
u can choose slower package for around 14 a month..0 -
Hi,
I am hopeless where broadband packages are concerned...
We use our internet for surfing, e mail, MSN - probably a few hours per day maximum.. Our current supplier is Tiscali - and it seems very slow (could be our computer tho), and pay £14.99 per month.
Sky have offered to supply our internet with no month charge - This is the package:
• Great value broadband with no monthly fee
• Up to 2Mb¹ download speed, ideal for everyday browsing
• Up to 400Kb¹ upload speed
• 2GB monthly usage allowance
We never download movies or anything - I do buy songs thru Itunes tho.
So, could anyone tell me if this package above would suit our needs?. I would really appreciate any advice... :A
The next option would be £5 per month (alot cheaper than what I have now), and this package:
Get up to 8Mb¹ download speeds for just £5 a month
• Up to 400Kb¹ upload speed
• 40GB monthly usage allowance
Would this one be more suitable??? Would this be really fast?
Thanks for any advice.

You can easily check your current usage, if you read this thread. Surely if the base package is not enough for you, you could upgrade. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
