Good news: DH has been paid! (Will do the money hokey-cokey later)
Bad news: I still haven't received my new bank card so my money is effectively on ice.
Will do bigger update later...- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

We did the money hokey-cokey last night. DH transferred all the money necessary to cover this months bills. He also transferred £340 to savings, but that was replacing £300 that he had 'borrowed'. So savings up by £40.
The good news is that my new bank card arrived today. So I can do the money hokey-cokey when I get home. I *should* be able to transfer £1000 to savings this month. That will take the total to 55% of our £5000 emergency savings target.
I have 75 points to earn on YouGov before I can claim £50 - give me some surveys!- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Hi PBS,
I hope you can keep spending under control in July - we have just been paid and after a couple of weeks with zero money all I want to do is buy some clothes and go out for a meal
I need to rein it in as we have some big things to pay out for coming up.
Well done for being up to 55% of your emergency fund - that is great news! I should think about one really......Orange Fairy

Hi OrangeFairy,
Thanks for dropping by. Looking at your signature you are doing really well with your debt-busting!
At times putting money in the 'emergency savings' feels counterintuitive, there always feels something more 'urgent'. But that is part of the problem, when we have had emergencies over the last few years, like our car dying, and our roof getting a hole, we've ended up in debt as we have had to put them on cards. So I know it does make sense, but it is hard to remember that at times!- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Today we are meeting with the Independent Financial Adviser. There are two things I'm really hoping to get sorted. One is DH's new pension. The other is to update our life insurance cover, hopefully for something better and cheaper.
On the general money front there is not much to report. I have been trying to tie up loads of loose ends so I have:- Claimed my opticians refund, will land in my account next week - £60
- Sent off my claim for my iPhone repairs, will cost £50, but will save between £30 and £207
- Sent off work expenses - £205
- Just cashed out from YouGov - £50
I have a day off from work today, so I'm going to [STRIKE]clean and tidy downstairs[/STRIKE] ahead of the IFA visit, drop some books at the charity shop, [STRIKE]return some books to the library[/STRIKE], and drop some clothes in the clothes bank at the school.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

DH's company laid another 13 people off last night. Despite repeated reassurances that all the previous rounds of lay off were 'the last'. He's still in, but for how long?
In other 'news' he is meant to be getting paid on Thursday, but we have expenses to pay out so it is likely that none of it will go into the savings pot.
I get paid in 16 days and, yes, I am counting down already!
Still no more news on France.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

DH not been paid yet
Hopefully it will land tomorrow before we both go away for the weekend and the car has its service. The mechanic has said the service and timing belt will come to £410 altogether
Only 15 days til my payday now...
£50 from YouGov has not landed yet
The friend I am seeing on the weekend will be giving me £64.50 she owes me for the hotel so that should more than cover my spending money and should leave some over.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Had a lovely weekend with my friend. Had some backache from eight hours spent driving there and back, but it's much better after DH gave me a back rub last night. Ended up spend £45 over the whole weekend, so it wasn't too expensive.
DH still hasn't been paid yet, which is now going into the 5th day of being overdue. We really need asap as we have to pay the mechanic for the extra work that needed doing to the car. DH is well into his overdraft, not sure by how much though.
YouGov money landed, so I have £50 in my account and £13 in my purse. Pay day is in 11 day time.
We have a wedding to attend this weekend and need to get something off the wedding list for that.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746
