Debt busting into 2015, but not beyond!

I have an ear infection
I've had the tell-tale 'whistling' noise for about three days and today everything sounds high-pitched in my left ear. It happens from time to time and its not painful, but it is annoying.
Spoke to DH this morning. Yesterday the company he works for made about 1/3 of its staff redundant :eek::eek: He isn't affected, thankfully, but it does make me worry about where the axe will fall next time they might need to make savings.
It makes it all the more important to push on with our debt busting, mortgage overpaying and saving. We would be okay on just my income, we could get by, but currently we have no 'safety net' and that makes me anxious.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Aw PBS,
I hope your ear infection is better soon
It is worrying when job losses are all around you, thankfully DH hasn't been affected but you are right to be focusing on getting a safety net in place.

Hope you're feeling better soon PBS, ear infections can make you feel really rotten.
Sorry to hear of the job losses in DH's place, it does make you nervous doesn't it. My job is not particularly safe, but worrying about it creates turmoil, so we're all trying not to worrying until we know exactly what the position is. A safety net is a great idea though.

Hi Dobbibill and MeandO hope you are both well. Thanks for keeping me company on here. Isn't the weather lovely? Too nice to be in work me thinks
It's been a bit 'up and down' chez PBS the last few days. We had a lovely weekend, and then last night OH and I had a huge row over nothing. I went to bed with no dinner as I couldn't stand to be in the same room as him and he slept on the sofa half the night. We've sorted it out now, but I wish that we could stop it happening rather than patching it up afterwards.
Still not had my expenses and I am only a few £'s from my overdraft limit. OH is almost on the brink of getting his new contract sorted, but its is weighing on my mind that it isn't all sorted yet.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Haven't posted for a week as I've felt guilty for spending money. Which is very silly, I know. I want to use the diary to keep me accountable. It was DH's brother's wedding on the weekend so we spent quite a lot of money, some of it essential (diesel, hotel, gift, car tyre etc) some of it luxury (new dress, shoes, nails, car valet) I haven't totted it all up but spent at least £300 that was not budgeted for
I'm trying to remember, that even in spite of this, we aren't actually pushed off our mortgage overpayment mission. DH made a £300 overpayment last week and I will be making a £1050 overpayment on Friday. This exceeded my 'target' by £100.
DH was paid last week, and he did the money hokey-cokey so all the money for May's bills is there.
He's heard back from his Virgin CC and the issue has been partly resolved but with no explanation. He really needs to ring them to find out what is going on. If the 0% period has ended early for some reason we need to know so that we can rejiggle our priorities.
I still haven't received my expenses  and work have messed up my requested pension contribution increase. Instead of increasing by 2% they had reduced it to 2%. I think / hope I caught this in time.
I get paid on Friday and I CAN NOT WAIT. This month has felt so long.
The only other thing worth mentioning is that I think I'm losing my work mojo. I have no energy or enthusiasm, I can barely get myself out of bed. Everything seems pointless. But we need the money. I can't justify giving it up yet, especially with DH's work situation being potentially unstable.
I jetwashed the back yard last night, it looks nice now. Just need to tidy up the honeysuckle and plant up the pots ready for the summer.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

I feel your pain re the mojo - it's hard at times. Sorry I may have read but slept since then, is the plan for you to give up work eventually?

Hi PBS
Well done on the HUGE overpayments, that is incredible. :T
I can sympathise with your lack of Mojo, I literally have to force myself out of bed these days. It is incredibly quiet at my work at the moment and there is no morale whatsoever amongst all of my colleagues, so a day in work seems to drag everybody down tenfold.
I'm making the effort to do one thing an evening to improve my house/garden/debt situation etc, so that I feel like I'm achieving something in a day, which I certainly don't feel as work at the moment.
On Sunday evening I finished painting the small section of wall in the lounge that needed finishing and finally relegated the tins of paint to the garage. I put some hooks up in the garden ready for hanging planted pots on, and fixed the wooden bunting I've had for ages around the eaves of the summerhouse to brighten it up. Silly little jobs that's I'd been putting off for ages, but I felt better for getting them out of the way and it did spur me on a little to tackle more things. Maybe you could assign yourself a little task a day to keep the motivation up?

Hi DF2012 I don't have a plan to give up work at all really. When I am enjoying work, I love it. When I am not enjoying it, I hate it.
Yesterday was a case in point. Felt miserable from the second my alarm went off until I left the house. Thinking ' I don't want to go to work. My job is pointless. My boss is useless. There are far more important things I could be doing... etc'
Got there, and yes it was boring, but I was fine. It was fine. Would I have rather have been doing something else? Yes, but it wasn't that bad.
They pay is decent enough and I feel like I should be grateful, but it just doesn't make me happy. So motivating myself is hard.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Hello MeandO,
That's a good idea. Thank you. I have the motivation (at the moment, which isn't always the case) to do things at home. Hence the recent decluttering, clothes kondoing and jetwashing. And a tidy, organised house (and car) do help me to feel more balanced generally. It's really just work where the mojo is missing, I resent it. And it is infecting other parts of my life. I want to start running again, but I have no energy after work. I want to do jobs round the house, but I have no time after work. I'm sure this is a blip, I have been here before, I need to keep my eyes on the prize. And this is mortgage freedom in three years.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746
