Yes (individual shares), and last! Got in early, managed to get out with no loss, unimpressed with the volatility of AIM! Money re-invested in Vanguard LifeStrategy 80%. Stick to the plan young Edinburgher, stick to the plan.
I hadn't realised just how bad their P/E had become, was over 100 at one point! :eek:0 -
No update today as we're going out for FIL's 60th and I've broken my spreadsheet
I think that the problem is that I use a combination of manually updated values and automatically calculated items that are driven by selections from validated lists.
The main highlight this week has been shifting all new money into the ISA. I think the it should be at £3k or so once the dust settles. I purchased a mix of Vanguard LifeStrategy 60% and 80% (I purchase 60% with my money and 80% with our money). The split is roughly 70% equities/30% bonds.
That said, overall we're still 62.5%/26.25%/11.25% cash/equities/bonds, so a long way to go. I'll be happy when that cash figure is more like 10%!
The sun is shining and today is a short day :T0 -
You've lost me
But am sure you know what you are taking about. Equities and bonds sound so grown up!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Hi Ed,
Stocks on aim are very volatile and often go up/down without any rational basis, although if you find one that does well then boy it does well. They are certainly not for the "casual punter" and although I have a small holding of a few hundred quid in one aim oil stock (a moment of utter madness!!) im now avoiding investing any more cash into it.Initial mortgage (Dec 2012) £108,000 3.84%APR MF date Jan 2038

A pretty good weekend, although it felt like there was far too much on for my liking
FIL 60th on Friday, we were up reasonably late, followed by big cooked breakfast on the Saturday. Saturday was reasonably relaxed, I managed to get a few jobs done that I had been avoiding. Unfortunately disaster struck in the evening and I was afflicted with incredibly bad cramp in one of my legs. Two ibuprofen, two aspirin, stretches and a banana took a couple of hours to kick in (so to speak)
Today we've been out for a Father's Day breakfast with my folks, which was lovely. At the same time, things feel a bit tense and grumbly at home, I blame the weather. Got my HB bottled today (finally), so I'll have 30 bottles of a delicious Belgian beer to look forward to in a few months.
I've had a lucky weekend with free slots promotions, won nearly £50 :j Just as well, as a relative got us tickets for the Rugby World Cup next year, didn't realise that their (rich) budget was different from ours and spent £170 on two tickets!! I insisted on paying full price on principle, but it smarted more than a little.
I've also taken advantage of some guaranteed profit matched betting offers using some of our household savings. It ties up £750 or so until the end of the world cup, but the return is something like 50% of the *annual* interest for less than a month
Dinner tonight is HM veggie burgers with a bean salad and reduced R0lo desserts, I should probably go and change a few buckets of fish water first.
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend?
*Edit: And new car insurance quote is nearly £300 cheaper than last year :T0 -
well done on car insurance quote......did you get that via TCB?
and good news with the free slots :T
absolutely love rugby.....how fab to have tickets for world cup, I only ever get to watch it on TV as my DH is not a fan, though he does get ignored completely when there's a match on (especially 6 nations) so can't grumble

We will do (we don't physically need to accept the quote until the end of June). It will hopefully subtract another £35 off the cost of our next renewal, but I'm no longer counting cashback until it's paid.
Today is a very busy day at work, so minimal faffing- £10 to Freedom Fund, nothing to household savings as the MB listed the other day have eaten all of our 'spare' cash
- Sold a DVD on eB@y, posted this morning
- Listed 8 DVD box sets on eB@y as 2 lots for Mrs E
- Think there's another guaranteed return WC winner offer that I can place this evening, will probably place as large a bet as they'll take :rotfl:
- A couple of free slots offers to play through tonight (10 free and £5 risk free)
- Need to pack a bag, catsitting for a few days after today
Our kitchen shelves now look ridiculous, the amount of HB makes it look like an off licence :rotfl:
Positive thoughts:
It's a beautiful sunny day, even if it is Monday.
I'm reading 'Antifragile' and it's very refreshing

Hi Ed
Just catching up.
Glad the hospital visit went well and there are positive thoughts for the future.
Good luck on the job front too.
Glad it's sunny where you are - it has bucketed down twice here with thunder & lightening!
