Np*wer put our DD up to £161 (from £74), despite my strenuous attempts to convince the smarmy salesbot that opened the account after their part in our monumental switch cockup that £74 was far too low. Surprise, surprise, we already owe them £300+. They offered to put the DD up by a lower amount if I paid off the outstanding. Nah - stuff em - sick to the back teeth of gas and electricity monkeys

We've just switched energy supplier as our DD was going up again despite our best efforts to lower it - so we've moved! Here's hoping it'll make a difference... :)

Good luck with the job applications.

When I was applying for jobs nearly 5 years ago, i found that it could be time consuming, and you had to put your heart and soul into the application, even for quite low level jobs.

It s not for the faint hearted, so well done on making a start with your plan to change things for the better.

A somewhat unimpressive week, this is what happens when you need to pay £750+ to your pension as a one time payment. The money was invested in a combination of Vanguard LifeStrategy 60% and 80%.

    Hi Mr E

Sometimes I feel you have to take a step backwards onto a new ladder which goes further up. I learnt this in 2009 when I lost my job - my income literally crashed to £0 but with hard work and perseverance I now earn twice what in earned back then and in a job I absolutely love.

It was scary (and admittedly I didn't have to make the decision as it was made for me) but I'm so glad I stuck at it.

Listening to a beautiful 'Miserere' on Classic FM, I love choral music, even if it does make me feel like crying sometimes (in a good way!)
    • £32.94 interest transferred, think we're due about another £6 from TeaSB, but they're not playing the pay on time game!

  • Hi Mr E, have you listened to The Sixteen by any chance?

I too love Choral music although some can be a little jangly, I find on the whole it's uplifting.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
