I'm just waiting on Ed's Idiot Guide.......... Not that I'm hinting or anything......
It's an 80/20 thing. Most of the money is made by picking the low hanging fruit and using free tools to calculate the amounts etc. In theory I could write it today, but there's work, job applications, cat sitting and the fact that I'm an awesome procrastinator to consider...
Re. cashback. It's *ok*, not great. I've probably made £1,000-1,500 over the last 5-6 years, but it involves so much chasing and faffing about that it's hardly the 'easy money' that it once was. I now find TCB (my preferred choice for several years) entirely unhelpful when it comes to chasing missing/slow cashback and now I feel lucky if I *do* get it.
Cashback is also 80/20 in that you'll get a huge impact from switching some of your biggest recurring costs (i.e. TV/broadband/utilities/insurance/mobiles), but everything else is small beer.0 -

Thanks for the feedback on the cashback sites.
I think it's the same approach as I take to the use of cards for payment - I use a card for most things that I'm going to buy anyway, so I can earn points as a little bonus.
I haven't got anything to lose from signing up, so I'll think I'll get myself registered with TCB and £co. I haven't got anything to buy at the moment, but I can be ready for when I doEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I've always been interested in the matched betting Ed - seems such an easy way to pick up some straightforward cash. With the world cup coming up and my full intention to watch every match of it, might be time to revisit it.
Cheers,

Amazed by the matched betting figures Ed. Is that right £1500 - £2000 since March?? I've never really understood matched betting but I am thinking I really need to get to understand it. An idiots guide needed. I tried to follow the stuff on the forum but felt my eyes glaze over.
Well done you anyway for sticking with it and making it work.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

See, just when I think, hmmm perhaps I should try this, all the technical terms like fruit, tools and calculate come out play and I get Watty's glazed feeling ...Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Oh. crap.
Got in early/worked through lunch yesterday so that I could pick up Mrs E in the piddling rain (drove in). Completely missed the fact that I was meant to be at a meeting with CEO/COO/several senior managers
The worst thing? I'd completed all the reporting required for the meeting, it was a done deal!
I was honest and made an unreserved apology to my bosses bosses boss (can't figure out the apostrophes there) and in fairness, they were ok about it (even looked vaguely amused).
Can't let those sorts of things happen. Even though I'm not at all engaged, I don't think I can just miss meetings.- Need to buy groceries, we've eaten crap for the last 2 days
- 2-4 Matched bets to set up tonight. They're not entirely straightforward (free bet on lose and 'If'), but there should be £35 or so profit to be had
- Money to pots
- Hang out with cats

Less than an hour in and it's already a 'mare
As I've probably mentioned before, I report statistics and trends as part of my job. There's always stress to get the figures published shortly after month end, we should have done so yesterday.
My boss (who would be involved with the commentary) was out of the office Mon-Wed and never thought to tell any of their staff. We had a lot of failures and to try and mitigate the fact that we basically ballsed up launching a major new system, I proposed including a narrative summary of what happened for the month as a whole (as opposed to lots of reasons). I suggested this as structural changes/general intransigence mean that it's very hard to get decent analysis from our management team.
Our Head of Heads said this sounded like a good idea and we provided an honest, descriptive and conciliatory statement.
Only to come in this morning to discover that everything has exploded, nothing is acceptable, every measure needs to be worked through individually and everything has been entirely taken out of my hands
I hate this place. Your rare moments of engagement and inspiration are shat on by reactive managers who don't give a crap until someone more senior is pulling their tail.
Thus endeth the rant.0 -
Are you still job searching regularly? How are the applications going?
Sounds like the mngt team will get the end results they deserve if they don't wake up.
I'll go and make a cup of tea for you.
