  • Seriously, coming on the Internet at 10am on Christmas Day just to complain about Waitrose? You are blessed to be with your family today, there are many who can't! Put this behind you and have a lovely rest of the day and I hope Boxing Day food goes better for you :)

omg seriously, is she for real.

Hey lady try worrying about real things in life.

I wanted santa to give me a cure for my MS for Christmas, he didn't deliver, but i cooked a turkey breast today, first turkey ever, cheap shop bought frozen job,

oh i did cry tho, at the beginning of snowman and his dog (think thats what its called)

how can people think Christmas is ruined over a turkey, she was offered a very decent alternative.

yeah this is either a troll or a bored teen

  • One of my friends has had his flat, his car (which had his DJing equipment in it) flooded out yesterday. He couldn't get to pick his little girl up last night as his car has the River Medway in it........now that's a ruined Christmas.

Went to Waitrose on 24th to collect de-boned stuffed turkey and drumsticks. Kept waiting 40 minutes only to be told order gone astray and not there! Offered conventional turkey for free which was GOOD except that not prepared in shopping terms or emotional terms to cook it.

I think the OP's reaction was a bit OTT but some people do seem to obsess about everything having to be perfect on the 'big day'. (probably because the media insist on referring to it that way).

I can't understand why the OP didn't accept the whole turkey.

To cook a whole turkey I would have to go and get sausagemeat, sauce, cranberries etc.

Not something I was prepared to do.

Have to go and get sausagemeat, sauce, cranberries etc?

    Excuse me?

Wasn't she already in Waitrose to collect the deboned turkey that had gone AWOL?

How much trouble would it have been to divert to a few different aisles to pick a few extra things up?

And as someone has pointed out, Googling would have brought up lots of simple recipes.

On the subject of putting things into perspective, we were watching BBC News yesterday morning about the floods and power cuts and they were talking to a couple who had no power but had got the BBQ out and were planning to cook the turkey on that.
They were laughing and upbeat, despite their Christmas plans being 'changed'.
  • Doubt you will hear just what the OP actually did.

How would you feel if you had ordered an Apple air but got a samsung tablet because shop had a muck up?

I would be quite happy to receive a free samsung tablet instead of paying for an apple air.

Totally disappointed - that is predominant emotion, tbh. Took a stuffed breast but not the same. They did not charge and for that credit.

But I find it totally unacceptable that an order placed on 11 Nov is not delivered. Have emailed customer services. Want an explanation more than anything else.

What if I had elected to collect midday? Would there have been anything left?

    What do you think?

Whilst I agree it's disappointing (I'm a last minute shopper myself), they did offer you an alternative for free, which was the best they could have done.

If you were going to take home a roast, presumably you were planning to eat with several people - I take it none of them were cooks either? In our family, one person is in charge of Christmas dinner, but there are other people who do also cook. Might have been worth asking if someone else could step in.

Hope you had an ok day regardless.
