Went to Waitrose on 24th to collect de-boned stuffed turkey and drumsticks. Kept waiting 40 minutes only to be told order gone astray and not there! Offered conventional turkey for free which was GOOD except that not prepared in shopping terms or emotional terms to cook it.
Totally disappointed - that is predominant emotion, tbh. Took a stuffed breast but not the same. They did not charge and for that credit.
But I find it totally unacceptable that an order placed on 11 Nov is not delivered. Have emailed customer services. Want an explanation more than anything else.
What if I had elected to collect midday? Would there have been anything left?
What do you think?

What compensation would you be hoping for?0

Compensation is for actual losses, try for a goodwill gesture. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Mistakes do happen! - You've got a free Christmas roast out of it.
How much more compensation do you think you should be given?0 -

Think that must be the best line ive ever heard on here!
Would love to know more!0 -
TBH the emotional thing is because I have found it totally stressful to cook something only once a year that is not that simple.
No, did not take the offered free range whole turkey because of that - why should I?
Waitrose failed to deliver on something that I had planned my Christmas day around. I also felt let down, annoyed and disappointed that a shop with a good reputation had totally not fulfilled.
To cook a whole turkey I would have to go and get sausagemeat, sauce, cranberries etc.
Not something I was prepared to do.
How would you feel if you had ordered an Apple air but got a samsung tablet because shop had a muck up?0 -

Seriously? A turkey being difficult to cook?
I can understand you being frustrated, but in my opinion, M&S have tried to resolve this by offering you an alternative free! Theres not much else they can really do! Yes they messed up, but that happens in life.
As for the extras, you was already in the supermarket so could have picked the bits up anyway!
As for your comparison, dosent really work im afraid. Two seperare tablets, different functions and different prices. A turkey is a turkey!0 -

Mistakes do (frequently for me) happen but I have always found Waitrose to be more than generous, refunding and allowing me to keep the item I have cause to phone about with online deliveries.
A couple of years ago I ordered a hamper which was delivered when I was out, despite there having been an arranged time. Of course I phoned, expecting a reduction but they refunded the total amount and told me to salvage what I could from the hamper. I was inconvenienced in that I had to go shopping for more food but the free wine, etc. more than made up for it.0 -

Are you kidding? Really. You can buy pre-made stuffing etc, and making it from scratch is hardly difficult.
I'm no Nigella, but I do all my Christmas dinner from scratch and it's easy as pie.
Or you can do what my SIL is doing and buy a pre stuffed frozen turkey joint, ready made stuffing balls, ready rolled pigs in blankets, ready mashed potatoes, Aunt Bessie's roasters, steam in the bag veg, ready to oven yorkshires, and even the type of gravy where rather than granules you just add water to a jelly type thing that dissolves to eliminate lumps.
It's not rocket science.
Stop stressing about stupid small things, and just enjoy Christmas.0
