My word, this thread is better entertainment than anything that's been on television this Christmas

You weren't "emotionally prepared" to cook a full turkey rather than a turkey crown???

Oh my actual effing god!!!! People like this actually exist and have actually managed to get themselves into adulthood???

I thought I'd heard some wet blankets in my time, but I really have heard it all now!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You lot really are unreal. So many answered on 25th = so why the criticism?

Maybe I am a troll??? Think on THAT!

Why not reply on the 25th, nothing to do at that point but browse the net....happy days.

WoW !! Has the BBC heard about you ??

Heston Blumenthal will be worried, where did you learn to cook like this ? Have you thought about writing a book ? There could be a series in this - "The Great British Roast Off" Or something .;)

Sorry, couldn't resist, do you think the OP will realise how ridiculous their post comes across ?
I'm going to do another on new Year's day too!

(I am going to remember to cook the bird and not that bag though!)

We had turkey soup today - made stock from the remains of the turkey and blitzed it along with the leftover roasties. Chucked in some bits of turkey too and accompanied it with some bread I baked from a packet.

I hope you are emotionally prepared to cook another turkey.
We've laughed our heads off at this. I fear whenever we're cooking anything new now at Chez Duchy there will be concerns vocalized at the emotional preparedness of the chef to take such a massive step.......

It is no different than a posh Sunday dinner, chuck the turkey in the oven, takes a bit longer than a chicken peel some veg and roast some spuds, how difficult or emotional is that?
Don't forget to pour some water on the turkey from time to time - it'll get really dry otherwise.
  • Do you shop there every week? I find that most Waitrose stores have such a small staff and even smaller management that they get to know you and will basically greet you warmly and put themselves out for you. I had a minor issue with an item that didnt arrive and was given £50 in gift vouchers (no it didnt spoil my Christmas- that would have been silly) as they knew I spend £thousands there each year (as my JL credit and loyalty card show!)

  • I'm confused.
OP wanted the ordered turkey which was drumsticks and deboned, stuffed turkey. Then was offered a whole turkey.
Can't you just say no thanks, but I'll take a stuffed turkey crown and some drumsticks that are done in the oven and then that's the same work?

I think they're being very fair giving you a free turkey as an apology. I can see why you're annoyed at ordering something and it going missing, but I don't understand why it caused such a hassle?

  • "Im sorry Mr Rogue, theres been a problem with your order. Please have this turkey from us free of charge as an apology"

Reasonable? Id have been dancing down the isles!

I was in 2012 when the same thing happened to me. Free Turkey = More money to spend on alcohol getting sh*tfaced.
