WOW such a long lived thread - my best ever. And such sad ppl for prolonging it. Didn't you have anything better to do over the holiday period?
I had 4 rib beef for 25th. I had got it with 25% off in August at Waitrose (Welsh Black for those that care) and stuck it in freezer.
Defrosted it over weekend and it was perfect for the day.
As to emotional bit - well, all those that watch the Bake Off, Celebrity Chef programmes - don't those that compete who really care about their food and how it is cooked show emotion?
You sad people - you obviously don't care about your food or how it is cooked.
Bring it on - I will am looking forward to what else comes forth.
(Will this be the longest rant thread ever??)0 -
Would anyone like some popcorn or some doritos or some soda bread?
Cheese sandwich prepared with emotion?
If you had rib beef sitting in your freezer why didnt you take the free turkey and cook it another time?
Not really such a big deal in the end was it and your christmas day went fine.0 -
Hang on a minute. If you're going to get emotional, you would get emotional over something you yourself have lovingly prepared. Not over what is essentially a ready meal.0

I actually do care about my food and how its cooked, speaking as someone who doesnt eat meat or dairy, I need to put a bit more effort into what I eat or else Id be living on beans on toast.
I just dont see the point in crying over spilt milk, dairy free or otherwise.
Im sure some of the comments on here annoyed you, but that doesnt make people sad, nor does it make people not care about their food
Perhaps people just accept that mistakes happen, would have taken the offer of a free turkey with good grace and then stuck it in the freezer and cooked the beef instead.
Its part and parcel of starting threads on here that not everyone will automatically agree with you, or be sympathetic.0 -
Blimey it took the OP to come up with such a witty and smart remark (well in her head it was) a mere three days. I hope you were all emotionally prepared for such a long wait.....if not perhaps the OP will compensate you from her compensation from Waitrose. Perhaps she could claim extra as Waitrose have made her an MSE figure of fun (I predict enquiries about whiners emotional preparedness popping up for months to come).
Of all the Waaaaaah XXX store ruined Christmas this one is my favourite due to the high level of OP self preoccupation.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

What a hilarious thread this is, just to let you know I had a really nice turkey crown from Waitrose that was sublime, the stuffing was nice as well.0

The plot thickens ....... The OP wants compensation for a turkey joint she didn't care about anyway ........refused the free turkey........ So what did she want compensation for ? Being permanently emotionally unprepared about life in general perhaps ...or maybe just unstuffed turkeys? Or has she had a rethink and changed her story perhaps?

I think, perhaps, people are being a little hard on the OP, as most women (let's be honest, in most homes, it is they that have to organise the whole shebang!) are stressed by the time Xmas Eve arrives, as, usually, it has been weeks of organising presents etc., for the family, sorting out the food etc., and all the other aggro that Xmas brings.
What would be a minor setback in February takes on a life of it's own on Xmas Eve!
I had an early pick up of an order of different meats, and other stuff 'food to order' at M&S on the 24th.
I got up feeling crappy, and the wind and rain wasn't helping as the queue snaked right through the clothing section (pick up point), and into the car park.
By the time I got to the front, I could cheerfully have battered someone with the blasted turkey. For once, M&S had organised things badly, and there were endless teenagers (temporary staff, I assume), running about like headless chickens mucking the orders up!
Other shoppers were more vocal than I with what they thought...
So, what normally I would have shrugged at, was causing me to have a meltdown quietly lol
But the supreme irony is that, after all this, I collapsed later on Xmas Eve, got ambulanced to hospital and they only let me go on condition I had the tests this week, but, in the meantime, i wasn't to eat ANY food other than things like dry crackers until then, and no fluids other than non-alcoholic:eek::eek:
So, surrounded by a mountain of lovely grub, I have munched on crackers and drank lots of coffee.........aargh!
But, starting to see the funny side of it and have given all the fresh food we didn't eat away to the family.
And, the better news is that I will be one of the few people to have actually lost weight over Xmas! :T
Happy New Year lol :santa2: :rudolf:
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
OMG funniest thread ever.
I may just come over all emotional now or at least as soon as something goes really wrong.:j63 mortgage payments to go.
