Compensation? Seriously.... I nearly choked on my cider, I think the OP should compensate me... I could have died!
Same. I was not emotionally prepared for this thread!

Wow, lot's of keyboard warriors on this thread. I wonder if you'd have all been perfectly reasonable at being let down right before Christmas by a large and supposedly dependable chain?

"We'd have laughed it off Warehouse, of course we would"

    Bo**ocks.

My mum took the chicken (from Sainsbury's, with a sell by of 26th) out of the fridge christmas morning to find it had gone off.

Phoned me to ask if we'd mind having just the gammon, of course it was, no drama, no ruined christmas.

Dad took the off chicken back to Sainsbury's yesterday, got an apology and £15 gift card, he'd have been happy just for the apology and a refund.

It's how reasonable families react to a minor set back, no need for histrionics, or bo**ocks for that matter.

It was close but I was.

You're far more emotionally complex than I, Simon. I'll never know how you did it, but it's nice to know that a hero walks among us in these tough emotional times.

  • How would you feel if you had ordered an Apple air but got a samsung tablet because shop had a muck up?

If I got it free of charge as you did with your turkey then I would be over the moon

Thank you. Hopefully next time I am able to get through without making the call.

I am just a guy who waitrose gave a free deboned stuffed turkey too.
