Can anyone who is trying to cancel if they have read this thread report back on this:
When you email Sky to cancel please include all these details:
Full name including title and middle initials
address including town and postcode
password
date of birth
telephone password
Sky's contact telephone numbers and emails address
Please post on here if they still do not cancel the account with all these confirmed. TIA.
Why?
Is it a good idea to put your password in an email?0 -
Why all those details? A letter by post with account number should suffice, and if it does not just cancel the DD.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

I cancelled on Friday by filling out the form after logging on to 'My Sky'. Didn't need to supply any password just put 'I am giving 31 days notice of cancellation from todays date' in comments box. Sky phoned me a couple of hours later and, after trying to show me the error of my ways, put through the cancellation.0

Well the advisor seemed baffled that I wanted to get rid of such a wonderful product that offered so much for so little! Unfortunately I had to go to work so couldn't continue the discussion which I was quite enjoying - when the phone call isn't at my expense!0 -
Well I decided I didn't want to be without Sky Sports , so I rang sky today. I said I was due to be disconnected in a few days and was about to ring Virgin Media to book installation as it was cheaper and I wanted the new boxes , but was checking in case any better new year offers were available to me first. I was offered 35% off for a year and a new sky+HD 2TB box installed for free. I said I cancelled as I wanted two boxes. Then he said he could give me a sky + HD 500GB box as well for £29.95 . That takes my bill down from £81 to £50.55 for all channels including sports, movies, 2 multirooms , HD . I am happy with that , so that's sorted for a year anyway.jacquelinec wrote: »I received my first phone call from them today, a week after cancelling. They offered 25% off my bill for a year , then 35% when I said that was still dearer than virgin . Offered me a new 2TB hd box . I said the main reason I left was because I wanted two replacement boxes and would go for the new Tivo boxes if they can't give them to me. She said she couldn't and would ring me next week to see if I wanted to go ahead .0 -
We have the entertainment plus (extra?) package and movies, allegedly supposed to be £43 odd a month, however the last 3 years have had a 75% deal through cancellation dept making it £10.75 this last year. Has just run out again, was offered 50% off and politely declined. We will miss it sadly, we have netflix but we record the odd thing. Will the sky box still work when disconnected for free channels? How about radio?
Got no chance of them phoning with an offer, they don't have our new number I just realised!0 -

How about radio?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
