Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled!

My 'misdemeanour' was to stay 22 minutes beyond the 2 hour limit at Homebase. That was on 12th August.
The PCN was issued on 16th August (why the delay?), and I received it in the post on 21st August. By 23rd August, G24 were writing to me saying the charge had been waived, thanks to tips I picked up in the MSE Forum.
After reading the Newbies post, and searching this thread for 'G24 Homebase', I followed what other people had done,:- I tweeted a private message to @Homebase_help
- I also emailed enquiries@homebase.co.uk and, crucially in my opinion, cc'd CEO damian.mcgloughlin@homebase.co.uk
As you can see from the dates above, everything was sorted out reasonably quickly.
NB I didn't have a till receipt even though they asked for one.
Hope this helps someone!0 -
Hi all,
A couple of months ago I received two Parking Eye fines from parking at the MRI hospital. On the first occasion I had rushed in with my sick nanna and on the second I was attending a social worker meeting about her. Before this I had not been to the hospital in a few years and was completely confused by the new parking system- the barriers were up and there was a lot of work being done on the car park so I assumed (wrongly) that I didn't have to pay.
I received two fines and immediately googled if anyone else had found themselves in this situation. After devouring so many stories of people being ripped off by this company I contacted PALS at the hospital. They informed me that I needed to appeal with Parking Eye first, which I did unsuccessfully. I then went back to PALS and within a few weeks I had confirmation from PALS and Parking Eye that my fines had been cancelled.
I am so glad I contested the fines- it's morally bankrupt to prey on people in already distressing situations at a hospital. If you find yourself with a fine from this car park- contest it!0 -
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the newbies thread, helped others in the individual posts and otherwise contributed to the cause!
I've managed to get a PCN cancelled - I presume via the retailer complaint, but due to a lack of communication I also put in an appeal - which I also had no communication from.
It's been a bit stressful, so I'm glad of the help - both from the existing threads, including the newbie one, and also from those helping on my particular thread.
The item that should have been obvious was to check if there was any amount due to pay - but sadly it wasn't obvious to me!
I did look on the website to see if there was a way to check an appeal status, but didn't think to try the payment area!
Redx advised me to try that - and that's how I know it's been cancelled.

Hi
I got a letter with photos via post of me in June 19 "causing an obstruction" in Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield due to the angle I parked , I ignored the letter
Another letter arrived as a "demand for payment of unpaid charge", again I ignored it
Then a letter before claim arrived from Gladstone's Solicitors so I had to act
I read these forums & emailed Meadowhall Careline & British Land who own the site with all the facts & that I obstructed no-one, all 4 tyres were in or on the white lines & that under contract law the redress for breaching T&C's is the financial loss suffered by the other party, requesting a breakdown as my "demand" was now £155
I sent the email 6th Sept, bloke rang from Meadowhall on 7th apologising & today 9th Sept I have an email confirming its cancelled
thanks Forum guys0 -
Hi
I'm at the Letter Before Claim stage following UKCPM PCN at start of September 2018 in smallish family run hotel.
the Hotel are claiming that as its after a year - they can't do anything to help cancel my PCN
I contacted them to ask them to help cancel the PCN (I had originally appealed the PCN with UKCPM with evidence that I had the permit in the car but not clearly on display but was registered VRN with hotel) but this was dismissed. I thought it would go away but now have LBC so wish to prepare for any action / get it cancelled.
could an email from the Hotel owner suffice that I pass on?
first they need convincing.. so any Civil Law reference may assist
apologies to ask or if I have missed it.. but I have searched about limitation of time for land owner to cancel PCN including he newbies thread0 -
Why did you not start a new thread? This makes absolutely no sense as a place to put a topic.

Start over.
Very sorry. I didn't want to annoy people with a new thread and I thought my question could fit within this landowner thread to help clarify timescales or limits for people to use this usually successful method. will start new thread0 -
Not really, as yo uhavea specific question about your case
"Civil law" reference being the weird bit .No idea what youre really asking for here?
A principal to a contract can intervene at ANY time, is a basic principle of contratc law.0 -

Hi, firstly thanks so much for the tips on here.
I got a PCN after using a Parking Eye Carpark. They had an online payment option using APNR via good2goparking. The signs stated you have until midnight to register online from your first visit. I did so in plenty of time, and then a few weeks later I received a PCN claiming I hadn’t paid.
I checked on the good2go website and my car is showing as registered on that date but for some reason it hasn’t actually registered the visit to the carpark. My number plate etc. Is all correct- clearly the two systems just haven’t linked up properly somewhere! Anyhow I contacted good2go and got no response.
After reading the forum I appealed with the generic letter and also sent a strongly worded complaint email to the centre management. I received an almost immediate response saying they’d contact parking eye to get it cancelled! Win!
The car park was The Riverwalk Durham, operated by Parking Eye and I contacted The Riverwalk centre manager via email, as per their website. I didn’t have any receipts for that day either but I did attach a screenshot in my complaint email showing that I had registered my vehicle/number plate on the good2goparking website on the date of the PCN.0
