Smart Parking are so easy to beat it is laughable.

Just submit the appeal from the NEWBIES thread & Smart will roll over.

No asking where the NEWBIES thread is, given the coloured writing in my signature below (not visible on a phone).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My initial enquiry was to Fantasy Island's website, they directed it to a Security Manager called Vince Jeeves who was very helpful, VinceJeeves@fantasyislandresort.co.uk was the email address I subsequently used.

Automated reply from Christians email - I am out of the office until 05/08/2019.

Any other people I can email regarding this matter?
  • Thank you for the hints, tips and response template which I’m happy to report has worked successfully!
Britania parking (Waitrose car park), have replied and whilst they state that they believe the notice to be valid and within their terms...as this is my first parking charge notice they have cancelled it! Fantastic forum thank you!
  • This might sound redicilous, but having been making my eyes sore with reading today on the newbies parking forum and wanted to check this.

I have been drafting my complainst to the land owner (as an angry customer even if I am browsing). I have already completed my appeal process with the silly parking people.

But just before I sent it I thought...wait. I am supposed to be doing this as me, the letter recipient? I'm not the driver of the vehicle during the apparent bs offence but I am expected to be sending my complaint to the landowner without this being constrained as any admission of liability right?

    Sorry lol. Head hurts.

'We visited your store', 'I've now received a PCN from xxxxx'. That way there is no admission as to who the driver might have been and your letter doesn't become 'wooden' by saying 'the keeper did this, the driver did that'.

Say something 'nice' about their store to open up so as not to make them to start off on the defensive, before moving into your complaint.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Hi,

In complaining to landowner I used my real name but just said "we parked".
Later I said "three of us in the car, all experienced drivers - and none of us saw the signs"
(ok - that may not be relevant to you - the point is I never once admitted who was driving even though it was clear who was complaining (me) and that my wife was registered keeper)

I have a complaint success story on here somewhere - I think complaints beat everything else - (you can probably find it from my Username). I always complain to the very TOP of any organisation ... and make it plain you're not going to let it rest until they've resolved things to your satisfaction. I tend to complain loudly - not sure my "colourful" style is the reall the BEST way, though.

Best of Luck and well done for complaining

I have to post again a part success story. I successfully quashed a silly parking charge at Morrison’s with parkingEye with the help of this forum. Yesterday got home to find another PCN from euro car parks at a Sainsburys. Again spent the time following the advice from the newbie thread and before I lodge an appeal using the standard template I thought I’d ring the store manager and let rip. Couldn’t find an email address for the store. He was fab. Said to come in with my receipt and letter and we can work through it and sort it out.

Have to reiterate what Coupon Mad says and complain to the retailer at the site. Not sure how to tag members here but coupon mad if you see this thank you so much for the time and effort you have dedicated to this forum. It’s thanks to members like you that fight and lead the cause for us to have success.

Any newbies seeing this yes there’s lots of information to sift through and it’s a mine field but start at the beginning and slowly take in the advice and don’t panic and don't pay. Hopefully these cowboys will be eradicated once and for all.
