Had a successful claim email for 1250 euros been told will receive a cheque for 1020 pounds. Was wondering if there's any rules around what exchange rate easyjet have to use and whether we can ask for our cheque in euros as we have a Spanish bank account?

    Hi,

I don't believe there are any 'set rules' about exchange rates but you could ask them for payment in Euros.

    Good luck.

  • Hi,

I am new to is forum, but I have read on the MSE website and weekly emails about compensation for delayed flights.

I flew with Pegasus Airlines recently. We boarded the flight about ten minutes late but then we stayed in the plane itself for over three hours in our seats (we flew as a family with kids).
I tried checking the flight on the FlightStats website and the website said it was delayed by ten minutes.

I emailed the airline and they replied as follows:

" Your message has been forwarded to our related department and searched. We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience we might have caused.
It's a widely known fact that due to harsh conditions (technical, weather, operational political instability etc.) some of scheduled flights are delayed or cancelled.
As an airline we are responsible for our passenger's well-being. Therefore all conditions regarding a flight are considered and it's within our responsibility to nullify any risks.
Our numerous flights had been cancelled or delayed because of operation safety reason and air traffic control so we had problem planning our operation clearly during the day.
In this case we helped our guest requests in possibilities we could not provide extra compensation if the delay is under extraordinary circumstances. We will make more effort on our operations for guest pleasure and we expect to see you on our next flights.
    Thank you for your understanding."

Can anyone help? is my case reasonable for compensation? and if that's the case how can I take things further? Thanks

    W K

If delay, upon arrival (not departure) was over 3 hours and reasons for delay are not extraordinary circumstances (generally weather) read Vauban's Guide.

    Post your flight details.
  • I'm just about to put in a claim for a 4 hour delay with Thomas Cook, followed by a diverted flight! Total delay back to original airport of 7 hours.
This was for party of 3 on package holiday. Do I need to claim separately for 3 travellers or all 3 under the lead traveller? I only have 1 x booking ref for all 3 travellers.
    Many thanks

You can claim for 4 passengers in the first instance although they may well have to sign forms themselves later, especially if you gave to start Court proceedings

Thanks. I was just going to log the claim using the TC website link but have found the template letter so will attach that too.

  • Before I submit my claim, I just want to be absolutely sure about what booking ref I need to quote
The package holiday was booked in-store with Thomas Cook and I have a Booking summary and receipt ref, but, there is also a Airtours booking ref? Which one should I use?

Finally, I am pursuing this claim on behalf Son and friends, can I put my details as point of contact on the template letter or is it best to put his?

    Thanks

Were you a passenger? If not you can't claim on behalf of someone else (unless they are children).
