Yes StewF likely you have a claim - read Vauban's Guide and please place any future posts on airline thread appropriate to your delay problem.

Can you point me to the right info as I cant find it on moneyclaim online.
Long and short, made a claim to United, they refused but offered vouchers, took it to CAA, who agreed there was compesnation but they can't enforce, took it to moneyclaim online /court, got a judgement by default as United didnt respond to court or judgement. Got a warrant for bailiffs, who obviously sent this to United as required. Moneyclaim online now has an update which just says 'United informed of change of address' (on the 7th day of the warrant).

Does this mean I have to start again with the whole process.? It was sent to the address that is online (South Perimeter road). Strange how they couldnt respond to anything previously but managed to somehow get the warrant and respond in time to that....

I had the same issue with United and almost exact same response. I was on a through ticket from london with a missed connection in new york and filed a claim because of the 'through ticket' clause. Got a judgement via moneyclaim online system, and still no payment, so had to get a warrant for baliffs to attend united offcies in london. so still fighting.

I had a flight from Birmingham Airport to Mumbai flying Emirates on Business Class. I had to change at Dubai to get to Mumbai. It was bought under 1 ticket. My First Leg of the trip was delayed by 90 minutes causing me to miss my flight to Mumbai, the next one was 5 hours or so later. So I got on that one and that was also late departing and arriving, I got into Mumbai about 9 hours late, causing me to miss my business meetings.
I sent Emirates a claim and there response was:

    Dear Mr Dhillon,

I refer to your letter dated 18th June regarding compensation for delayed flight EK038 from Birmingham to Dubai on 17th October 2010.

Passengers are now able to claim for compensation for delayed flights from the UK where the delay to the arrival in Dubai is more than three hours and if the delay was not due to extraordinary circumstances which were beyond an airline's control.

Flight EK038 was delayed and arrived in Dubai 90 minutes later than scheduled unfortunately causing you to misconnect with your onward connecting flight to Mumbai.

As this is less than three hours, EU compensation does not apply.

For further clarification to avoid any doubt, your departing flight from Dubai to Mumbai, has no connection with the EU and does not involve an EU carrier and is therefore not governed by EU regulations.

I trust this clarifies Emirates position.

    Yours sincerely,

    xxxxxx

Have I got any recourse...any. help will be gratefully accepted.

Our flight was delayed by an hour and a half a few weeks ago which caused us to miss our connection.
How do I find out what caused the delay in the first place? I don't remember being given a specific reason, so how do I find out? Airline was Etihad. There's more to tell you but I'll wait for an answer for this fiat. Thanks

where were you flying from/to? Was it a single booking or multiple bookings, depending on the answers to those it may not matter what the reason was, but the easiest way is to ask the airline

Last month, I was on flight from Havana (Cuba) to London via Madrid.

The first flight (Havana-Madrid) departed three hours late - I knew this before boarding so asked AirEuropa staff at airport if I would miss connection flight when I arrived in Madrid, however the check-in staff told me that they will wait for me.

When I landed in Madrid however, upon arrival at gate for connection flight (Madrid-London) I could not get on it as they could not wait for me and instead sold my seat to other customer. They only offered me flight on next day and as a result I arrived in London more than 24hrs late.

Does this count as denied boarding or delayed boarding?

Post your flight details. Did you have an Air Europa flight from Madrid to London or Just to Madrid?

the flight from HAV-MAD was flight UX52 which landed at 14:47
with a 15:00 departure you would not qualify for denied boarding compensation as you would not have been at the gate before it closed so your claim would be based on the delay and whether compensation due would depend on the reason for the delay

Planes tend not to wait for delayed passengers...with 100+ other passengers possibly onboard, a missed ATC slot can result in chaos so it was bad for the checkin staff to set that expectation

The delay was because the flight arrived very late at Havana (from Madrid) before departure, but I don't know why it was delayed departure from first place...

When we arrived in Madrid the staff at the gate told everyone who missed the connection flight that there weren't seats as they sold our seats to other passengers instead of waiting for us... which fits nicely with your message. Even though there were tickets available later that day, they did not book us on those flights, they only gave us next day flight.
