Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Hi.
My wife was delayed back in November 2014 on a Ryanair flight to the uk. It passed the criteria to make a claim.
I contacted Ryanair myself who just dismissed me straight away.
I then contacted flight delays.co.uk and passed them the details, they also made no headway.
So I then tried bott and co, who eventually recovered some compensation for the delay.
Around 210 pounds.
Now we are being threatened by flight delays that we have to pay them 200 pounds plus vat as we have settled elsewhere?
What is anyone's view on this matter please?

How is that reasonable?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I think if you have evidence that flightdelays made no headway despite several reminders from yourself (assuming you made such enquiries or reminders) and there was a significant time gap between engaging flightdelays and botts, I would politely write back to them asking them how they think they are due payment. Are flightdelays a solicitors firm or some johnny-come latelys? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Just starting the flight delay compensation with Bott and co. who are No win no fee???
Their quick check says I am due compensation but I can't see how much their fee will be.
Anyone know is it a fixed amount or a percentage.
How much is the percentage? It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

from their website
What does it cost me to claim with Bott & Co?
Our outstanding success rate at winning flight delay claims which means you can rest assured that you’re in capable hands. When we do successfully settle your case we retain 25% + VAT of the total compensation amount plus a £25 per passenger administration fee. This is deducted directly from your settlement which means you never need to worry about having a hefty legal bill to pay at the end of your case

Thanks Caz 3121 for your quick reply.
Just reading the Bott and Co faqs I see that they can take over my claim if I am refused by the airline directly.
But as Bott say my claim is justified through their quick check won't it be better and save money for me to try myself initially at least???
Does the quick check mean that the airline has paid out passengers on the same flight as me??It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -

The 'quick check' does not mean that the airline has paid anyone. It means that the algorithm used by the website indicates that the required conditions for the flight to qualify for compensation (how late, reason for delay etc) have probably (>50% I guess) been met.
Yes indeed you can do this for yourself. First obtain Vauban's excellent guide (google) settle down with a big jug of coffee and read it twice at least. You will then be able to determine if you are due compensation and how to make the airline cough up. It's very educational but does require some effort.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.0 -
Hi
Just looking for suggestions, this may or may not have legs.
Manager was flying to Capri Friday morning. Flight delayed by 1 1/2 hours, because, believe it or not, the captain had not turned up for the flight, so they had to wait for replacement. Because of the delay, the flight ended up being diverted because of weather in Naples, if there had been no departure delay, the flight would have missed the bad weather. As a result, arrival was 7hrs late.
I realise that compensation is flat rate, but as he flew business class, it is a bit galling that having paid so much for the flight, the start of the weekend was delayed because of the captain not turning for work!A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Frustrating but business class doesn't mean that you get there any earlier, just in more comfort. As you say, flat rate claim0
