For those who feel short changed by the NWNF companies (if you can't be bothered to do it yourself):

Hi all, perhaps someone can point me in the right direction on this one. I submitted a claim with Wizz Air this week for a flight that had a 5hr delay for a flight that was over 1500km.

I sent an email to Wizz Air using a template letter from the forum and Wizz Air contacted me to offer 30 euros to my Wizz Air account and would cover any costs during the wait (food and drink, telephone call - i didn't purchase anything) - no compensation because I'm not entitled to it.
Please be informed that the delay was caused by a malfunction of the computer system at Luton Airport—an extraordinary circumstance. Please consider that Wizz Air as operating air carrier shall not be obliged to pay compensation, if the delay or cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances according to Article 5. par. (3) of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament.

Based on the above, unfortunately you are not eligible to receive the requested compensation.

However, according to Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council and our General Conditions of Carriage, in case of a flight delay we are willing to reimburse your expenses that occurred directly due to the delay. Therefore, expenses such as meals, refreshments and two brief telephone calls for each passenger can be reimbursed in reasonable relation to the waiting time upon reception of supplementing invoices. For these additional expenses, we kindly ask you to forward all related invoices/receipts, as an attachment to your reply, so that we can determine a possible reimbursement.

Should you fail to provide us the invoices as described above, we would like to offer you a balance of 30 EUR that can be uploaded to the Wizz Account used during the booking process. The balance can be used for future flights and payment with Wizz Air

This sounds like Wizz Air are not at fault and i should accept the 30Eur - i just wanted to run this by the experts here first ;)

    Thanks.

Nothing specific, just that there were issues at Luton.

Perhaps advise the date and checks can be made on flightstats plus there may have been local reports regarding problems at Luton Airport.

Anything like that and all planes departing would be delayed and if true does mean it's a genuine EC.

Flight date was 15 Aug 15 and flight number was W63771 SBZ to LTN.

What sites would let me check the actual reason for the delay?

Only airline will probably know reason for delay. If a series of delays there may be something on the local (BBC) news pages but a trawl of flightstats.com on the day in question will reveal how many airlines had delays.
