    Hey,

I was on a delayed flight with Wizz Air from Budapest to London Luton last week. We were delayed by 2 hours and 20 minutes due to a 'technical fault' which wizz air now claim was 'extraordinary' but we then stopped off in Paris to drop off parts, causing us to arrive almost 4 hours late in London. Apparently the nature of the fault excludes us from EU compensation, but as the airline opted to act as a courier rather than trying to make up for lost time, does this put them in violation as they didn't take all possible steps to minimize disruption? I can't find any examples of such delays online, but certainly think we're entitled to some compensation!
  • Read Vauban's most excellent guide and other posts, then decide how to proceed. To start you off, technical faults are now almost never 'extraordinary' whatever their nature, so it sounds as if you have a case.

  • We were delayed on a BA flight from Cancun last month. It was delayed for 24 hrs, I was notified by email & txt the morning of the flight, 9hrs before departure. I requested compensation, at first they just refunded the cost of the hotel for another night. I then used Martins template letter to request compensation for the delay, have just received an email saying that we are going to be given £840, that's for 2 of us. Don't think I would have got anything if I had not used Martins template, suffice to say I am very happy. Checked my account this morning & money is in.
  • I've googled and used Thomas Cook online chat but cannot get hold of a UK address to send the claim letter to... do anyone know it?

Also, in the letter template it says to put how many km the flight was, how do I get hold of this information?

    Thanks!

    1) Read Vauban's Guide
    2) Information on TC thread ~ posts should be on that thread
    3) Great Circle is your friend for calculation of km.

Hiya, Thomas Cook have just told me that they are giving us £450 (630 euros) in total for our delayed flight from Sharm to Glasgow (2700 miles). While I'm delighted they are coughing up I think it should be 400 euros each.
Our flight came in 3 hours and 20 minutes late. Can anyone advise please?

    Hi Folks.
I hope someone can give me some advice here. Last June we were due to fly back from Paris CDG to Manchester. We get to CDG and after a lot of messing around are told the flight is overbooked and there's no seat for us. There was no other direct flight back so they booked another flight from CDG to Amsterdam and then from there back to Manchester. We were due to arrive back in Manchester, on our original flight, at 1325 but with the flight changes meant we actually arrived back at 2135. We were given food token and a credit of 75Euros each back on a credit card. As we were 8.5 hours late in getting back to Manchester am I right in saying we are due more compensation or is that it? I've run a case through Resolver and got a reply from Air France who say you were given 75Euro each for the flight issues, thank you and goodbye. Should I take this issue further or just settle for the payment we got at CDG last June. Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  • Can someone point me to the part of the EC 261, were it says flights between 3-4 hours 3500km+ receive 300euros. The carrier is saying that because the flight isnt 4 hours delayed I am not allowed compensation
