'Croon' is a load of bunkum written long before Huzar by an airline executive but has often been included in airline bundles to courts:

  • Perhaps it's time for Croon to sing a different song
  • I have just recv'd a cheque for compensation following delayed RYANAIR journeys on both stretches of a return Malaga to Birmingham flight back in May this year (7 hours & 4 hours) which were due to technical faults.

I followed Martins advice. Wrote a letter to the airline which they replied too but pushed me away. Wrote to the CAA & the European CC. Been waiting on hold due to the recent court cases that have now been thrown out of court. The CAA contacted me last week to say they would contact Ryanair again on my behalf. Less than a week later a cheque arrives.

Its not the total amount that I am entitled too, but there is a possibility the ECC can claim on the spanish part of the journey, needless to say I am happy with the result.

Bit of a process but thanks to MoneySavingExpert.com it was worth it. Delayed for more than 3 hours? Go for it, you have the right!

Talk about a load of waffle just to get no where.... here is the EU response to the complaint (effectively now over-ruled by Huzar) regarding their 'preliminary list'.

This is more for the 'technical guys' but in view of last night's election it may encourage more of you to vote for Nigel .... having said that if we were not in the EU then 261/2004 may not exist anyway.

I know there is a separate thread for the CAA/NEB/EU but in view of the fact this thread is up to date I include the link here. Sit down, coffee and or wine at the ready and be prepared to nod off!

Thanks for that, but I can safely say it is now irrelevant anyway as it is not law, as you say post Huzar.

  • Been reading a solicitors article on defending hopeless cases, this in the legal terms is called sowing the seeds of doubt and also used by politicians.

They know they have no defence so if they say something for long enough and often enough they sow the seeds of doubt in the claimant’s case and the claimant may drop the case. So if you know it’s right then follow it through to the conclusion, don’t let them put you off.

Thomas Cook Claim - Settled Monarch Claim - Settled
  • Claimed on British Airways for compensation for a 24 hour flight delay from St Lucia to Gatwick in 2012 due to a technical problem with the aircraft. We were put up by BA in a hotel overnight and flew back on the fixed aircraft the following evening - 120 delayed passengers on a plane that was designed to seat over 300! BA delayed claim initially citing the appeal to the Supreme Court in Huzar v Jet2.com, but confirmed this morning they are paying out after I reminded them the claim was still live and they had not rejected it.
  • Was looking for a way to contact MSE and it looks like the forum is the way. A big thank you to publishing the flight compensation information a few weeks ago in the newsletter. I sent the template off for a delayed flight with Emirates 3 years ago and am now 600 euros richer!. Very easy process and much appreciated! :-).
