Thanks for replies. i dont have any details whatsoever for this flight. so think i will have to write it off this time.

Sorry abillen: not sure how anyone can help you on the basis of this info. You don't even say with whom you flew.

The law says you can but (in UK excl Scotland where the limit is, I understand, 5 years) your right to bring a legal claim to enforce your right expires after 6 years (from the date of the flight, in this case). So you can make a legitimate claim and the airline can ignore that claim with impunity.
  • Myself and my husband flew with Continental Airlines just before they merged with United Airlines. We had return connecting flights from Orlando to New York then onto London. As the first leg of the flight took off too late for us to get our ny-ldn,they told us the next available flight was the following afternoon. They put us up overnight, but how do we stand for compensation? Is it just EU flights,or can we claim from USA carriers?

To be covered by the Regulation flying INTO Europe, it has to be with a EU carrier (flying out of Europe, it can be with anyone).

    Hi,

We booked via Lufthansa from London Heathrow to Frankfurt (Dec 09) and then a connection from Frankfurt to Jo'berg. We purposely chose a night flight as we had a 2 year with us and knew he would sleep through reducing the stress of a 12 hour flight. We arrive in Frankfurt on time and boarded to Jo'berg on time but after taxi-ing out to the runway we had to turn back because of a fault. That was resolved and we taxied back out on the runway,(2 yr old now asleep) then the pilot announced we were turning bank and would have to disembark as we had lost our timeslot and Frankfurt have a strict no fly policy after a certain time.

We were provided with a hotel overnight and got the first flight out in the morning, does this count as a cancelled or delayed flight? Would it be classed as a fault with the airline?

I have sent the first letter to Lufthansa but 6 weeks later still no reply despite chasing twice.

Do I have a claim or should I give up? We arrived over 18 hours late and had a 2 year old wide awake and demanding attention for the whole journey.
