You weren't delayed long enough, and it was for a reason outside the airline's control? You're trolling, presumably.
  • Firstly, I'm not really sure what is meant by trolling...

Secondly, I just wanted to ask the question if the airport should have provided us with anything while we were there - I would hate to miss out just because I didn't ask!

I put a claim in sometime ago and was told it was exceptional cercumstances. so i let it go and didnt keep the paper work including flight numbers and dates. is there any way i can now find these details.

    Rummage through your bin?

Assuming you can remember the airline, destination and date flightstats is worth a look at. Without that info you are not going to get far though.

Do you have any of these?
    Booking References
    Ticket Stubs
Emails/Printouts from Airline with flight/holiday details
    Luggage Labels
Credit Card/Bank Statements/Receipts statements showing you paid for the flight/holiday
CC/BS/R showing you bought something while abroad or at the airport
CC/BS/R showing you bought something on the flight (a belter that one, well worth buying something in flight on a card if you want proof!)
Photos taken while abroad/at the airport
Details of transport taken to/from the airport
A neighbour (willing to sign a statement) who looked after your house/cat/dog/tarantula while you were away

You can also try an SAR but that might not yield you a passenger listing. Some SAR info here:

The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.

Sorry - I thought you were joshing. Particularly as you wrote that a 2.5 hour delay meant you "missed most of our first day".

So there were 13 of us that were delayed for over 4 hours in September 2008. I wrote to First Choice with the flight number etc but cannot find my booking reference number as it was over 5 years ago.
They have written back to me saying they can only go back 2 years. I have written to them again saying I believe this to be incorrect and I will be taking the matter up with the CAA.
Again they have written to me still saying the same thing and wont budge.
Unfortunately, the CAA have also emailed me to say that as the flight was 5 1/2 years ago, they are not willing to look at my complaint as they have a massive back log and by the time they get round to looking at it, 6 years will have elapsed.
Is there anything more I can do with no booking reference or boarding passes?

Have a good read of the FAQ's if not already done so.

  • oh ok!

We were meant to have a very early flight out, and because of the delay, it had a knock on effect - we didn't get to the hotel until way after we should have - we should have been there by about 11am - and because of the delays we were really tired, so had to have a nap once we got there!

I think we just felt a bit cheated that we'd missed most of our first day!!

You could try your travel insurance but many of them only pay out after a 12 hour+ delay (and even then it may be something like £20)
  • Hi I am after some advice re: flight delays.
We were diverted from Kos to Rhodes due to fog however the plane left along with crew leaving us stranded in rhodes. We were left for around 16hrs with only being moved to a hotel for 2 hours to have lunch before being returned to wait it out in the departure lounge. Although I know that the original delay was due to weather, no availability for a transfer flight left us at rhodes airport for the first day of our holiday. Do we have any chance of compensation?
    Thanks
    Rachel

Tricky, given weathers as the cause. Your argument would plead Eglitis, and the Wallentin "all reasonable measures" test. Depends on how long the poor weather persisted perhaps.
  • If i don't have a boarding pass or any paperwork for a flight that i was delayed on from 2011 and the airline says they can't find any record of my booking, even though i have the flight number and date, where or what else can i do? Any ideas?
