Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Myself and my family were delayed 7hrs outbound from Manchester to Sophia, Bulgaria in February this year. It didn't even occur to us to claim compensation for this delay until a work colleague suggested that we check out this site. Having downloaded and filled in the relevant details on the this websites template letter, we duly posted off the claim and unbelievably within 4 weeks we received an apology letter and £1300 in compensation, no quibles, no haggling just a nice cheque RESULT!!0

I currently have a stayed case with TC. The judgement order states that following the outcome of the Huzar appeal TC should inform myself and the court "thereafter promptly" and I then have 28 days to apply for the stay to be lifted.
I am writing to the court anyway to request this but how long in legal terms is "promptly" and what happens with the case if TC do not follow the judgement order? TIA0 -
You have already posted this question in another thread and I have already answered it0

Just checked flight details - http://www.flightstats.com/go/FlightStatus/flightStatusByFlight.do?id=139430837&airline=ZB&flightNumber=365&departureDate=2008-09-20
Doesn't look like I can claim - although flight was delayed taking off from Newcastle by almost 4.5 hrs - delay is only reported as 139mins delay (picked up loss time on atlantic crossing)0 -
Even if you are not entitled to compensation under the EU regulations, it is worth asking the airline for some Frequent Flyer points by way of ex gratia compensation. I had a one hour flight intra Europe flight that was delayed for over two hours earlier this year. Three hours is the trigger for monetary compensation. but the airline immediately and cheerfully gave me more points that a free flight would have cost me.:beer:0

The recently up dated advice on the main page says:
"But while there's no harm getting in the queue and re-submitting a claim to your airline now, particularly if you're nearing the six year limit when it's easier to do so, it's unlikely you'll get anywhere with it until the outcome of Jet2's appeal is known."
Would it not be more sensible to work to the 2 year limit that many airlines try to apply?0 -
We'll test your proposition tomorrow, Malcolm!0

hi, can any of you experienced and learned forumites advise me on whether its worth persuing a a claim for a 30 hour delay caused by a luggage truck crashing into the plane? or would that truly be an extraordinary circumstance?0

Anyone here know what this fault is?
‘a leaking Auxiliary Power Unit Shut Off Valve’
could it be the same thing as
‘a fuel leak problem’ or are the two things different?0 -

Does it matter? They're both technical problems and therefore not "extraordinary".0
