  • Hello
We travelled as 4 adults and 4 children to Portugal and were delayed for 20 hours overnight without any accommodation or even blankets for the children. We were never given any info about why the flight kept getting delayed and plenty of other flights by the same airline went to the same destination throughout our delay.
Does anyone know where you can find out why a flight was delayed so you know if it fits in with the compensation criteria?
    Many thanks :)
  • Can anyone tell me does this claim/compensation count for a delay if your sitting on the plane at the time.
In 2010 myself, partner and daughter were travelling from London to Florida, boarded the plane and on runway taxiing to take off and tajke off was aborted. There was a problem with the plane, try to sort at side of runway could not be done so we were taken back to the gate but kept on the flight until problem was resolved a total of 2,1/2-3hrs delay before we left London.
Did not effect much the otherside, but not great sitting on a flight for this length of time with a 9yr old at the time
If anyones can advise that would be great.

Delay = actual time of arrival compared with stated time of arrival as provided by the airline. Sounds like your delay was less than 3 hours.

I would like to ask a question on this, Myself, my husband and my mother all went on a flight to Boston USA approximately 7 years ago with British Airways. We boarded the plane via bus and we had to sit in the plane on the tarmac for over 3 hours before our plane took off because they were having problems clearing a couple of the passengers at the USA airport of arrival. We were not offered any compensation, drinks or food while waiting. Do we qualify for compensation?
  • I have had a flight delay with jet2. I wrote to them and they said I cannot proceed without my booking ref but I don't have this.
Is this a jet2 rule? Should I pursue my claim?

Sounds like no, as it was over 6 years. But I am just starting all this.
  • Challenged flythomascook in relation to compensation for a 7 hour flight delay from Kefalonia to London Gatwick, on both occasions they have refused to pay any compensation, am now taking my case to the CAA
  • Recently was delayed on a flight back from Chicago by an hour. When we got to Heathrow we had missed the last bus to pick up our car from the airport so had to catch a taxi costing £42. Sent an email to American Airlines to ask them to cover the cost had an email today apologising for the delay due to a faulty aircraft and giving me a $350 dollar voucher to use on any AA flight or a code share with a one world flight to the USA. Much more than I was expecting :j already working out how I can use it.
  • i have submitted a claim against thomas cook for a 18 hour delay from cuba, but they class it as extraordinary and say no compensation is due
this is a funny one i will explain what happened, the flights home were on a tuesday to gatwick and wednesday to manchester,we found out the gatwick plane had to turn back to the uk two hours into the flight, the guests at the hotel were told it was a tech fault, they were told later that day they would fly home the following day, they were also told by the rep they would be on the plane coming from manchester.
the next day we were first told our plane was seven hours late, then later told it was cancelled and we would fly on the thursday morning.when we got on the plane the pilot told us that that plane had gone tech two hours into the flight and returned to the uk,sound familiar,so unless they had two planes with the same faults, which i think is unlikely, the shifting of passengers from one flight to the other seems to hold water.
so i think i have good reason to demand compensation.
if anyboby has any views i would love to hear them
