Hi we had our flight canceled by text while in cape Verde 19/03/2020 we were due to fly home 21/03/2020 with tap Portugal. We could not contact the airline(and we tried) we were advised to get the next possible flight home as the airport could close anytime. We managed to get the last 2 seats on a TUI flight at our exspense. Over 3 months later tap have agreed to a refund for the cancelled flights though we are still waiting to receive that. Who is responsible for that extra flight?

Hi. I have flights booked with Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford to Malaga at the end of August. Yesterday I received an email letting me know that the flight will be delayed by three and a half hours. Am I due some compensation? Or, as they've been proactive and let me know well in advance, am I not due the compensation?
I'm not sure if this is relevent, but with the current COVID-19 situation, we're pretty certain at this point that we're not going to go on this holiday anyway, as it isn't the holiday we wanted when we booked it earlier in the year. Having said that, I think the FCO advice has changed so we don't expect be able to claim compensation. This would just be a bonus for us.

I've just seen on the MSE website that if you don't travel, the delay must be over five hours before you can claim compensation. Sounds like I've got the answer to my question.

compensation for delays/cancellations apply when the passenger has been given less than 14 days notice. As your travel is more than a month away, compensation would not apply whether covid related or not

Hi everyone, Virgin have also agreed to pay compensation for my flight delay back in Feb. I am still waiting and they will not give me a date when I would receive the payment, despite writing to them frequently. They are using the same excuse of Covid 19 and the high volume of claims. I will not use the airline again. Disappointed to say the least and running out of patience.

Hi , I wonder if someone can advise me on our flight delay claim please , on our return flight ( 4 of us ) from Alicante to Birmingham UK , on 28/05/2018 we encountered a 5 hour delay , As lead name of our group , I submitted a claim with Myflightdelayed.com this as been going on for 2 and half years now but to no avail , they have sent numerous replies to say Ryan-air are not corresponding with them and have also emailed me to say Ryan-air say they have already paid compensation into my account ( which I have given 100% proof they have not ) . They now inform me that it is in the hands of their Solicitors to see if they can take our case to court ! We know other people on our flight have been paid out £300 each ??? Has this been experienced by anyone else , Is this Fraud -claiming to have paid when they clearly have NOT ! Any advice or help will be greatly received . THANKYOU
    regards

  • Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise if my case for compensation would work. We flew with Jet2 from Glasgow to Bodrum on 21st September 2020. We were around 30 minutes in the air when a passenger who was obviously drunk started verbally abusing and Irish couple who were sitting a couple of rows behind us near the rear of the plane. He was shouting abusive,  religious and racial discrimination against this couple and other passengers. The crew tried to lock him in the toilet but he kept kicking the door open. The crew moved passengers from the rear of the plane and got him into the back row of seats where the battled with him for a while and eventually tied him to the seat using the demo seatbelts. All this was very upsetting for all those on the plane. After taking advice the captain decided to divert to Manchester airport to remove him from the plane. On arrival at Manchester the police boarded the plane and arrested him. They asked if anyone had filmed the incident and some people emailed this to the police. Jet2 then decided the present crew could not continue and they would get another crew who would have to come from Leeds to take over the flight. We were disembarked to await this happening. We were not offered any food or drink while in the airport, but I received a text offering me a free soft drink when we reboarded the plane. This was never offered. The result was that we landed in Bodrum over 4 hours later than we should have. I was going to try to claim for delay compensation at least but thought Jet2 may claim exceptional circumstance to get out of it. However they let this man on the plane in this state of drunkenness and the trolley service hadn`t even started yet. Where do you think I stand with this?

diversion / delay due to safety concerns would indeed be exempt from compensation
did you see the man before he boarded and was he obviously drunk? I would be surprised if it was not noticed or other passengers had not reported it to the ground staff unless he had hidden it very well. Some people don't even need drink to be involved to be abusive. Some choose to take their own drink on board.
Unless you can prove that the man was obviously not fit to travel and that this was ignored by ground staff and flight crew I would expect any compo claim to be thrown out.
You may be able to claim reimbursement for the refreshments purchased at Manchester Airport during the delay if you submit copies of your receipts claiming EU261 Duty of care (if you didn't purchase anything then there is nothing to be reimbursed)

Mattmolly, looking at the reviews of mydelayedflight, there may be a scam but it might not be the airline! There are other cases where airlines have confirmed full payment but the company says they have received nothing. There are other crazy reviews claiming that the company got a refund within 2 weeks, if you believe that you believe anything.... I would contact the airline and ask them to confirm when they paid your claim and to which bank account
