Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Diversions often cost the airline a lot of money and tend to be a last resort. If the fog was visible what other reason do you believe could have caused the diversion/delay?1

The fog was visible even as we passed Sofia then turned 180 degrees to land.
I had similar conditions in Sept and Nov this year on the same flight but landed without issue.
There were no other reasons why I suspected anything other than weather. I just started googling soon after and found lots of others fobbed off when they had made delay claims.
I am still unsure exactly what an Automatic Landing is, but if it still needs visibility then I guess easyjet were right to reject.0 -
Hello,
I've just been on a flight to Canada that was delayed. I've approached BA who have accepted the claim but processed using Canadian rules (800CAD = £465). Can I refuse that offer and insist they process it under UK rules (£520)?
I appreciate this is a little churlish but just seeing if people might think work and what is the best approach to get BA to change the compensation?
Many thanks!0 -
Assuming the flight started at Heathrow, EU261 entitles you to 600 Euros, and at today's exchange rate that is only £501 according to my research. Are you based in Canada or the UK, if the UK, then there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for not paying in accordance with UK/EU rules0

Can I just confirm are these rates now fixed in GBP? BA are trying to pay me a Euro conversion rate which is below the specified GBP value on the CAA website. I plan on taking this to either the arbitrator or small claims court if they refuse to pay the difference if that's right but just want to be sure.0

Good evening,
I am going to try and raise a claim with TAP Portugal anyway but I was wondering on views. My wife was booked on a flight today at Heathrow at 1225 to Chicago via Lisbon. Everything was fine despite Eunice and then 10 mins before gate was due the flight was cancelled. The plane that I believe was their flight did land but was changed for the flight after. This was a bit of hearsay at present not fact. But the flight after and flight before left without issue. As my wife was travelling to the US for her mum’s birthday on the Sunday, having her flight cancelled and later being told she couldn’t fly later today, her 1-day PCR (£122 paid) would then be invalid to enter the US and she was unable to fly tomorrow (Saturday) as she could not even get a one-day PCR at Heathrow after a 3hr wait in a queue to speak to a Supervisor, who was rude and dismissive and not very helpful.
Then began a nightmare journey to get home with issues on both tube and rail.
I was wondering from a cancelletion perspective and no doubt TAP citing Eunice as “extraordinary / unexpected” what would be my chances or success and what could I try and claim back for? Ideally travel and PCR I am going for. Thanks in advance !0 -
