Official MoneySavingExpert.com Insert:

What's it about?

Back in July 06 Bailey started this thread to help all pregnant MoneySavers and their partners save on anything pregnancy-related plus give each other moral support. It's been hugely popular and now has a long list of pregnant mothers-to-be. Now it's not just for those that are pregnant but also those trying to conceive and MoneySavers that have probably already given birth and yet are probably too tired to let everyone know.

What should you do?

As well as being a great source of tips, baby-related bargains spotted, mutual support and help MoneySavers here have also gradually built up a list, adding themselves to one of these categories (the last one, people are moved to for obvious reasons!): If you want to add yourself to the list follow these steps:
  • Click on the link at the top of this page that says "Last" (it'll take you to the last page of the discussion)
  • Scroll down until you find the message with the very latest copy of the list in (if you use one further up the discussion other peoples' changes after that will be lost)
  • Copy that (highlight it and click control+c)
  • Click reply at the bottom of the thread to open a screen where you can past it (click control+p)
  • Add yourself to the list then click save
  • And don't feel shy. Introduce yourself, say hello and ask a question if you need to.
Plus, if you're thinking of how to cut down on nappy costs remember to have a read of the Nappy MoneySaving article too and for later down the line if you need childcare first read the Childcare Vouchers article.

Also please don't forget that this is a public forum and anyone could be reading it. Don't let this put you off discussing anything personal, just please be aware that the people posting on the thread may not be the only ones reading (it may just be that these people, aka lurkers, are too shy to post).

If you're new to the Forum it can look scattergun but read down and remember it's a conversation, starting with first post, scrolling forward for the latest. To reply you'll need to join the Forum but it's free to do.

Now enjoy your pg natter :D

    Freebies!
Ladies please remember the following rules :)

PERSONAL DETAILS AND THE OFFERING OF ITEMS FOR SALE/TRADE/EXCHANGE/SWAP/GIFTS

Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.

If someone appears to be selling items on the board it may be deleted by the board guides/forum team. The aim is to protect site users as however honourable the intention, your safety is paramount.

    MEDICAL ADVICE

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. While discussing medical insurance policies, cheaper ways to see consultants, cashback for alternative health treatments and how to get specific medication cheaper (legally) are all perfectly acceptable we ask you specifically not to discuss what to do in the event of certain medical problems (please see this rule on the Health Board). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com

    CODES/VOUCHERS:

For legal reasons codes are only permitted on the Discount Codes n Vouchers (Online and Offline) Board and must be sourced and indicated who it refers to. If in doubt please read this and this for an explanation. Any posts not meeting these rules will be moved. Do not pm others requesting such codes

    FREE TO JOIN BABY CLUBS:

Tesco Baby Club - Free Pampers Hamper containing a few wipes, nappy sample, some Olay stuff. You need to buy a pack of Pampers to get it, and it's not stocked in every store so check before you set off.

Boots Parenting Club - Free changing bag when you buy a pack of nappies, I think it's Huggies but it might be Pampers. You need to wait for the voucher to arrive.

Sainsburys Little Ones - Free Mum and Baby bundle with toiletries, to be collected from store.

Emma's Diary - You should get the vouchers in the pack from your midwife but if you don't or you want more freebies you can also register and download them here. 3 bags containing lots of samples and a can of Peartiser.

Cow and Gate - You get a free cuddly cow but you need to find a code, these are normally in Parenting mags so either have a look in the shop or on the Discount Codes board.

    Aptamil
    - Free cuddly polar bear.

Those are probably the main ones but have a look around as other places will send out vouchers, nappy samples etc. Also most of these will send you a voucher for money off nappies/wipes so keep an eye out for offers, I got 6 packs of Pampers Sensitive wipes for £1.66 with the £2 off voucher that came in my Bounty pack.

A more comprehensive list of freebies and vouchers is here.

As its a nice shiny new thread now seems a good time to jump in and introduce myself! I'm 27 years old and 26 + 3 with my first child - a baby girl due September 29th :j All very exciting.

Did anyone else find their babies got more active around this time? I've been feeling her daily since 16 weeks but since Sunday she seems to have developed a pattern of kicking mummy to death all day and then snoozing the next day so Mummy pokes her in panic! :rotfl: Guessing shes suddenly got stronger and more energy but not quite enough to sustain it 24/7 so she needs her rest days to recover!

Thanks neneromanova, I wondered if we'd get moved at 15k posts!

Continuing from previous thread, I didn't have a GTT test but maybe that's because they were too scared of me being sick if I drank the juice/lucozade :rotfl:

Only managed two hours sleep as baby felt the need to give me contractions all night. Midwife still wasn't able to do sweep yesterday either, think she was as gutted as I was :( So consultant next Wednesday if I go over but if I do go into labour naturally midwife said it shouldn't be a long one as baby's head is extremely low already

Can I request a time pause now please? I'd be at 25 on the list if I was on it and I don't want to be there.. especially when I evict them early.. I liked being at the bottom!

Could we have it added about putting how far along people on their posts, if no objections? It's much easier to answer queries sometimes when you know without hunting for the list and counting.

Sparkles thats a shame she couldn't do your sweep! My little ones head is up and down is quite uncomfortable to walk when it is sitting really low though!

Just back from physio, really felt like I was wasting her time as other than a couple of exercises there wasn't a lot she could do except a list of don't dos which are practically impossible with two other children to look after! Couldnt offer any advice about not being able to weight bear on my right leg when I get up, except to ask why can't someone else get up in the night to ds, very heavily implying my DH should be doing it, I didn't like her tone, he does do it when he can but works nightshifts! She was very judgmental without knowing the situation, really p*ssed me off!

Cant remember who asked about mattresses on the old thread(sorry!), but I would go for a new one tbh!

Claree, hope your feeling better now, did you manage to get something else to eat?

I thought the GTT was only offered if there was some other sign that you might have diabetes? It was only mentioned to me because of glucose in my urine a couple of times and even then they weren't sure whether it was worth doing - maybe it's one of those things that differs up & down the country.

I suppose a short labour could be a positive thing Sparkles, hopefully it'll happen soon though so you're more comfortable!

Sam, some people are just really rude - forget about her! I managed half of their awful sandwich and got a roll on my way home. Feel a bit better now but still like I could cry at any given time...just 'cause! :rotfl:

Had planned to nip into Mothercare on my way home tonight for a bra fitting and to pick up a couple of nursing bras while they're still on offer but I'm not going back out today - will make it in before the offer finishes I'm sure.

Welcome kanichen!! My lo is very active most of the time, so does bother me when it goes quiet! Think its just normal for them to get their own little pattern going on.

I thought you only got offered GTT if there were other factors, I've never had one.

Glad your feeling a little better, with you on the crying, I never do normally but this pregnancy I've been awful, think Dh is wondering where his wife has gone and who is this blubbering wreak!! Oh might have to have a look at mothercare didn't realise they had an offer on!
