Sent letter 1 on 22 May, was declined on 24th May, phoned to ask for re evaluation on 30th May, give them 4 weeks + phoned, was told it took 8 wks (17th July). Received letter 4th July with 50% offer phoned up + negotiated 100% including updated charges! It was so easy, just a waiting game!

    Claimed £252

    Paid £252

Sent for statements which came very quickly. Sent first letter, no reply.
Sent 2nd letter, standard letter saying looking into it, will take 6-7 weeks because there is so much work involved blah blah!
6 weeks and a day, letter offering full refund.
That is personal account, did same with joint account so expecting letter any day. Only thing is, both accounts have 2 more charges since i claimed. Might try going into branch and asking them to refund. otherwise will just do the process again! any suggestions?

The story: Sent 1st and 2nd letter but they didn't write back within 6 weeks but paid the money straight into my account, couldn't say fairer than that apart from the speed they took to write back the first time but got my money back in the end!!!!

    Amount claimed: £1105.00
    Amount offered: £1024.25

Initiated the claim by email on 14 May, received offer letter in post today, 7 weeks, 2 days and alot of patience later!!! Result! :j I made initial claim by email and followed up with a letter with table of charges (didnt claim for interest). I then made one follow up call at 7 weeks and a follow up email. I wasn't keen on going down the court route so i'm really glad I just held out for the 8 week mark.

I'm not going to haggle over £80 and will sending my acceptance back to them by special delivery today!!

Thanks to Martin for bringing this to light and for all the help and advice from everyone on the forum.

I've got another claim with HSBC in the pipeline so hope to be posting a similar success story at the end of the month.

Good Luck everyone, your time will come!!!

    Lloyds TSB
    Amount claimed: £1513.13
    Amount received: £1533.89!

We followed all the steps laid out on this site to the letter. All the deadlines came and went. Money claim on-line was very easy to use. Lloyds gave the standard "we are not at fault and we intend to defend....". Then the judge ordered that claim be stayed for 28 days so that both parties can come to an agreement. I phoned Lloyds on several occasions, but no reply. We then received a letter stating that the judge was about to strike out the defence as all other claims had not been contested. Then on the 15th june we received a letter from their solicitors stating that "...although the charges are lawful Lloyds no longer wish to pursue..." We were paid all the charges, plus interest plus court fees, PLUS an extra £20??? Oh well. In all fromm first letter to payout it took a little over 6 months. Thanks MSE. :j

HSBC AMOUNT CLAIMED 3500 (INCLUDING INTEREST)
    AMOUNT OFFERED 2700.

GOT THE OFFER IN THE POST TODAY WHICH I AM GLADLY ACCEPTING AS THIS IS MONEY THAT I THOUGHT HAD GONE FOREVER.

MY STORY: SENT LETTER ASKING FOR STATEMENTS BEGINNING OF APRIL WAITED THE FULL 40 DAYS AND THEY TURNED UP IN LOADS OF DIFFERENT ENVELOPES AND THEY ALSO RETURNED MY CHEQUE FOR £10.

SENT FIRST LETTER ON 8TH OF MAY AND WAITED APPROX 14 DAYS TO THE USUAL REPLY OF WE ARE LOOKING INTO IT.

SENT SECOND LETTER 14 DAYS LATER THREATENING COURT ACTION BUT HAD NO REPLY SO THEN DECIDED AFTER READING LOTS OF ADVICE ON HERE TO WAIT OUT THE 8 WEEKS.

AND YIPPEE TODAY GOT OFFER FOR THE ABOVE AMOUNT, NOT BAD CONSIDERING I HAD HAD A COUPLE OF CHARGES ALREADY PAID BACK TO WHICH I HAD OVERLOOKED AND WAS A LONG SHOT THAT THEY WOULD PAY INTEREST.

SENT OFF REPLY NOW AND JUST GOT TO WAIT UP TO 14 DAYS FOR THE MONEY TO GO INTO MY ACCOUNT , THEN ITS SUMMER SUN HERE WE COME!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OTHERS IN THE PROCESS AND WHATEVER HAPPENS DONT GIVE UP IT WILL WORK OUT IN THE END.

    AND CHEERS MARTIN YOUR A STAR!:j :T
  • Bank - Barclays

Told a friend of the website - she printed templates.

She sent off letter asking for a statement of the charges - with £10.
Received a reply within reasonable time (not sure how long).
She then asked them for £2200 + interest totalling about £2330(?)ish.

She had letter last week offering £1500 no further action to be taken, but stating that they did not admit liability. She's probably going to take it (single mum very happy really), as otherwise she thinks they'll probably want her to go the whole hog and off to court - although who knows.

Only taken her a couple of months all through.

Maybe now it's time to do mine- Abbey - instead of keeping on telling
everyone else about the site and how to do it!!

    Thanks

  • we have just claimed £3865 from barclays bank. it took us 4 months. I phoned the financial ombudsman services on the 27 february 2007 they wrote to barclays infoming them i was making a complaint i then recieved standard letter that they were looking into it etc. i then recieved an offer for £970 which i declined because i knew i had paid more than that so i then wrote and asked for my statements which totalled £3845.As it had taken longer than 8 weeks the ombudsman took over and i didnt have to do no more. then i recieved a letter off the ombudsman last weekend with the offer of £3865 which i accepted straight away! just waiting for money to into account!
