Amount paid: £2740 (including interest and fees)
I followed all the usual advise, started online court proceedings, received a preliminary court date for August, then beginning July had letter offering full and complete refund, interest and fees - they stated that they did not want a court case to influence the Office of Fair Trading investigation!!!
Go for it - lets all get OUR money back from these theiving B______s!
  • I have recently successfully reclaimed over £1000 from Nat West for bank charges in relation to a STEP account which has no overdraft facilities.

I was dubious of a successful claim due to the nature of the account however it took just 6 weeks and only one initial letter for them to offer me the charges less the interest (which was approx £200) so I accepted their initial offer and they paid direct into my bank account within a couple of days.

Thanks Martin for a great site!!!

P.S. After initially doing mine a friend did likewise and has this week received £4500 back.

I started all this in Feb with my work friend. She was with the Co-op and got £1900 back within the 8 weeks. I sent all letters to HSBC with no luck so proceeded to the court stage very nervously! 3 days later i got a offer of about £500 less of what i was asking for so accepted as part payment and persued for the rest considering i had then forked out £120. They refused to pay me anything after that, put in a defence and i cr*pped myslef!! Then to make matters worse, the court lost my file, then set a court date for when i am on holiday, finally rearranged the date, only to lose my file again!!!!

Sent off the charges as asked for my D&G and sat and waited......

.............in the mean time i did my boyfriends account with Barclays for him as he couldnt be bothered with all the hassel i was having, 3 weeks later and 1 letter he had £2200 sitting in his account!!!! Talk about rubbing it in!!!!

Anyway, sent one final letter to D&G 2 weeks ago offereing to settle out of court before the court date of august. Fully expected to wait until August to hear anything when today i received a offer letter from D&G for the full wack, interest, court fee and charges, all £1800 of it!

Wooo hooooo!! No more running home to check my post, no more headaches from reading this website everyday!!

So to all you still going, you'll get there in the end. Def send one more offer of a settle letter to D&G as that is what swung it for me i think!!!!

AMOUNT CLAIMED: £552 plus £120 court fees
    AMOUNT PAID: £644

First letter sent 9th March they refused followed through with all letters from Martins site. Went through the Court proceedure got a date for court the 15th August. Last week I got a letter from the Lloyds TSB solicitor saying they were still defending then 3 or 4 days later another letter from the solicitor offering me £644 which I have accepted. Just need to cancel the court date now. Don't give up I thought they were not going to pay up and I was really worried.

But read on :j my daughter put a claim in with the Halifax for £6,912.24 plus court costs of £250 totalling £7,162.24.

A couple of weeks ago she was offered £2,900 but she told them she would take it as part payment and was proceeding to court, last week she had an offer of the full amount of £7,100 couldn't believe it. So please don't give up it is worth the wait. Just starting another claim with the Nat West hope we will be as lucky.
  • hi
i just wanted to tell you all i successfully claimed my charges from Halifax, sent first letter in feb as per martins template, end of june informed bank of intention to take to court, today received a letter offering me £1777.00 of £3322.00 as a goodwill gesture, at this point i was really nervous about declining offer but i did, and a very nice lady almost immediatly offered me £3000 on the phone which i accepted and she even thanked me. i was gobsmacked that i finally got my charges back. i really thought i would have to issue a court summons.
dont give up, and definately dont accept first offer.
i could not have done this without martins help and all the advice and tips from the forum so a:smileyhea B I G T H A N K Y O U :smileyhea to you all and good luck to all who still have pending claims

    Hi all,

Just thought I would mention my win against Abbey, I started my complaint against Abbey in Feb with multiple delaying tactics from them. I recieved my statements 4 weeks ago showing they owed me 1451.00, I wrote to the financial Ombudsman complaining about the bank in general and how they had no regard for their own complaints procedure, offer recieved from the FOS today for the full amount!!

Thanks Martin, thanks to all who contribute to the site! and keep going everyone
  • Wrote to Natwest in May, No response  so threatened court action, received letter today saying Blah Blah Blah.....Bank right  but they would pay as a geture of goodwill :j

    Claimed £540.00 (Charges and Interest)
    Received £460.00 :D

  • Bank: NatWest
    Amount Claimed: 3872.00
    Amount Rec: 4156.00
    Took 3 letters & approx 4 months

Sent letter threatening Court Procs, got letter back saying it would take 6-7 weeks. Decided to wait before issuing on them, made several phone calls and today received 4156.00 without any Court Procs.

Thank you Martyn for the support to do this!:T :T :T :T :A
  • Bank: Smile
    Amount: £2144
    Amount won: £1998

So easy and straightforward. Took a reminder before I received my list of charges paid. Sent a letter threatening action in the local Sheriff Court (I live in Scotland) and three weeks later I receive an offer of £1998 as a gesture of goodwill. I bit their hand off.

Thanks again to all at MSE for starting the ball rolling.

    Cheers
