Thanks to everyone for all their wonderful help and advice.

After receiving over £750 back for my own bank charges, I have just had confirmation that NatWest are going to pay back all of my husbands charges too! That is the full £1780! :D

We didn't have to take them to court in either case, and it was very straight forward in both cases, though NatWest did drag their heels a bit.

It has taken a total of 4 months to reclaim it all, but time well spent.

Thanks again to everyone, and keep up the good work.:money:
  • :rotfl: :rotfl: Hi, this is my first post so here goes.

    Bank : Capital One

    Amount Requested : £1391.27 ( includes interest)

    Amount Recieved : £1391.27 :D:D:D

this hasn't taken that long at all really, I did take it to the MCOL stage but i think that if you want all your charges back from cap one then you have to, initially they offered part of my charges back which was around £400 i didn't even bother with the next letter as from reading this forum i knew that they would say that they would not increase the offer, started the mcol process which cost £120 (got that back too) after a few days they acknowledged the claim which allowed them 28 days, well today is day 20 and i recieved a letter saying that charges are fair but they will refund anyway, they paid off my balance which was just over £100 and i will get the rest in a cheque, and they havent closed the account.

All in all a good day.

    Bank: First Direct

    Amount Requested: £3200 (included interest)

Amount Received: £2450 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This took no effort at all. We sent the letter requesting that the bank repay our charges on the monday and my sceptical wife received the letter by return post saying that they feel these are fair charges but as it would cost time and money to argue that they would pay some as a good will gesture. We decided to accept as it came at the right time for us. 5 working days after receiving our acceptance the money was deposited in my wife's account which remains open. Next step Lloyds !

  • Bank Lloyds TSB
    Amount Reclaimed 1366.66
    Amount paid 1366.66

I sent the first letter in April and received the usual brush off not there fault and so on, so sent the second letter and filed the claim online, in June i received a letter saying they would go to go court. I have received my court date which is the 26th July however 2 weeks later i have now just received a letter from the bank solicitors saying they are willing to settle out of court for the full amount on the condition that i make an appointment with the bank manager to discuss my account and that i inform the court that it has been settled.

So anyone out there still struggling with Lloyds TSB keep going they do give in in the end

    Amount Claimed £1210
    Amount refunded £1216
The usual process as per Martins advise. Halifax acknowledged with the deadline being this weekend, but yesterday my son received a letter confirming they will repay the lot. Got a bit nervy as we filed MCOL the day before they said this had now become a lottery. So overjoyed my son is now debt free. Thanks to Martin and all of you who post your success stories that gave me the confidence that he would win. :rotfl:

Natwest folded. Got what I asked for (£1300) less interest PLUS an apology and £250 compensation for my distress throughout.
I won't say it was effortless but I will say I couldn't have done it without the expertise of Martin Lewis's team and the support from members of this forum. To all those still in the 'battle' KEEP STRONG!

P.S. Natwest cocked up again and I had a further £28 charge reversed today.
:j Proud to be dealing with my debts:j

    Bank: Barclays Bank
    Amount reclaimed: £1415.00
    Amount recieved: £1054.00

Wrote 2 letters, recieved a letter back saying they were looking into itand could take upto 8 weeks. 3 weeks later recieved standard letter saying they accept no liability but offering £1054.00. I've accepted as its money I could do with at the moment and I also feel partly to blame for managing my account so badly in the first place. My advice would be to go for it you've nothing to lose and loads to gain. good luck!!!:D

    Thank you so much Martin:T
  • Bank: HSBC
    Amount Claimed:£2880.40
    Amount Offered:£2047.65

My first letter was sent on 3rd May and I got my letter today 3rd July with HSBC's offer of £2047.60!

I'm going to take it! When they got my first letter they sent me a standard response saying they would investigate. I knew this was a way in hoping I would give up so I sent the second letter straight away. They did not reply in the 14 days requested so I was worried but its 8 weeks from the first letter apparently. So bang on the date today I got my reply!

Thank you so much moneyexpert.com. Everyone on here is so helpful and Im truly grateful.

I'm going to be sensible and pay off my overdrafts with this sum. It will be so nice to not see my statements not in the D anymore.
