    Bank: Bank Of Scotland
    Amount claimed: £6495
    Amount paid £7114

The usual story. Got the fob off letter after 8 weeks, rang and asked re-evaluation. Received an offer of £3781. Rang today to negotiate, they asked what I would accept, I replied "the full amount without interest" they added on charges I had received since sending the initial letter. "would you be happy with £7114??" you betcha.
Thanks to Martin and all the usual advice bearers.

    A happy banker :D

Amount Claimed: 3430 (4085 inc interest)
    Amount Paid: 2824.83

Waited the 8 weeks, received my letter this morning. Obviously wouldn't pay the interest, and pointed out, I'd actually had some of my charges back before, which is fair enough! Works out around 86% of my claim. Could push for the remaining amount, and was really looking for closer to £3,000 but I can pay a number of bills off and be a bit more comfortable over the next couple of months. I know its £485 short, but its still a lot more than I expected to receive in an offer.

    Amount reclaimed: £958
    Amount they paid: £814
Story: Unbelievably simple. Totalled up the charges, sent the bank a letter on 25th June (using the MSE template) with copies of statements detailing the charges, received a reply today from the bank offering me £814. I took it! Beware though. Friends of mine are trying to reclaim a much larger amount than my own and they have got to a preliminary court hearing stage.

    Bank: Halifax
    Ammount claimed: £1952
Ammount Paid: £2165.09 (includes £120 court fees)

received today 2 letters, one states that i accepted an offer of £1500..... not true i offered to consider it if it was put into writing, the other considers that the costs Halifax would incur would be unrecoverable hence the payment.

So if all does not go well don't be afraid of court!! it seems they are as scared as you

Off to pay off my Halifax credit card (they'll get it all back in the end:D)

    claimed - £3243
    received -£ 2700

stick with it! its a long slow process but be patient!

after the initial fob off letter i called to get them to re evaluate, 2 weeks later had an offer of £1493.50, called the next day to negotiate and asked for the full amount less interest if they settled today (£2806) the guy offered me £2700 which i accepted, started it all way back in march but just be patient , polite on the phone and stand firm.

martin :A :money: :A , you are a star, the money i won will be paying for a cancer op for my 4yr old neice back in thailand, getting this money means i dont have to try save for it, thus saving a lot of valuable time which she does not have. her family could never afford this op - its several years wages to them as farmers, in this case martin you may well be a lifesaver, and i and my extended family thank you dearly.:D :D

I received a letter from HSBC regarding a settlement figure.

I claimed the charges plus interest to the value of just over £1600. Unfortunately they did not pay out the full amount, but we both agreed on their figure of a little over £1200. This seemed quite fair because the total of my charge (without interest) would have come to about £1000.

Although it wasn't the full figure, its still worth giving it ago.

Plus Customer Services were very polite and helpful through the process.

    Cheers Martin and HSBC.

One very happy customer who is now going to pay off a loan.

Got an offer in full from HSBC today:

    £701 charges
    £179 interest
    £80

Started process back in February. Got as far as a court date and having to submit a bundle at very short notice - got notification of court date on Friday, bundle had to be in on Wednesday. Involved lots of panicking and tears but in the end so worth it :j. Anyone out there in the midst of it - just keep going. Take all the advice you can get and persist. You will get there in the end!

I wont see the money but it's a stonking £880 off my debt to HSBC
