But when i go to rng tones I can't find it?The measure of love is love without measure0
-
Hi
I had the same problem and solved it as alanclose previously mentioned if you place the music/ringtone file directly into my documents (not the music sub folder) and you then when you go to change your ring tone it should appear in the list with the ringtones supplied with the phone.0 -
@Ali - I am glad you managed to get it sorted and glad to be of help. As the My Documents/TomTom directory is required you would have thought the installer would have created it for you. Surely that isn't too much to ask!!
@John - Just as alanclose and fishfinger has said, said, just create a directory in the root of the SD card called My Documents. Copy the mp3 file directly into this directory.
Then go into Settings -> 2 Sounds -> Select the ring tone box -> Click on the centre button and a list of all the available ringtones is presented which should contain your mp3.
By the way, if you want to save a bit of space, you can also use WMA's as ringtones. I use WMA's. A WMA encoded at 64kbps is about the same quality as an mp3 encoded at 128Kbps, but is half the file size.
Edit - While we are talking about ringtones, you may have an mp3 which you want to use just a small section of as a ringtone. This free PC application, Audacity allows you to do this. Unfortunately, it doesn't handle WMA's directly, but you could generate your ringtone in MP3 format and then convert to WMA.
If you want to create the ringtone directly on your phone, you can take a look at VITO Ringtone Edit
It isn't free though - but only costs £5.0 -
Hi all,
I am a bit of a software geek so I have been busy trying out and buying quite a few applications and games for my Smartphone. I thought I would point out some of the more useful ones.
CT Alarm Clock
Very useful if you want to create an alarm clock to go off at the same time every day. I find it useful because I have been known to go back to sleep after tuning my main alarm clock off when I should be getting up for work!! Bargain at just £1.66.
Handy Converter
Converts loads of different units of measurement (weight, temperature, volume, length etc.) from one format to another. Also has a built-in currency converter which you can update via a brief update from the internet direct from your phone.
ListPro
I mainly use the PocketPC version of this but I have also bought it for the phone. In work I use this all the time to keep a to do list of tasks I need to do. I guess the only downfall of this app is that it is a bit pricey for what it does.
Sprite Backup
Again it is not cheap (it is $30 which is about £16 atm). This app will back up the entire contents of your phones memory (including all applications & registry settings) to your SD card. What is cool is it creates this backup as an .exe file. So, if you ever find yourself in the position where you need to hard reset (reset to factory defaults) you can easily re-create your old phone setup by just running the .exe file.
Right Menu Editor
I think this is probably the most useful app I have bought. It integrates into the Contacts right menu on the main home screen. It allows you to add your own menu items - whether the app/game is on your main phone or on your SD card.
Finally ... for now!!...
Pocket Controller Pro
Again, this is expensive at $35 (about £18.50) but this software runs on your PC and allows direct control of your phone. I use this all the time in work. Where it is handy is, say, creating SMS messages. You can use your PC keyboard to type directly into the SMS editor of your phone. So, creating even a long text message can take literally seconds. Also, I mentioned ListPro above - I can enter all my lists using my PC keyboard. I also have a notepad application on my Lobster. I can enter text into that from my PC keyboard as well. As I said, this is an application I use all the time in work but not so much at home.
That's all for now!!!
Cheers,

Probably wrong maps for the device. For example, there are new maps out for TT6 (v.675) - these won't work on your version of TTM5. What version maps are you trying to use?In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
