Good point. I think the meal is for youngsters and the pub hire and dj for all, maybe it should be the other way?0 -

Exactly. I would suggest she just arranges a meet-up of his friends at a pub or club or wherever they would normally meet.0 -

No.
It gets better, a Thursday night has been chosen for the atmosphere, the venue ability etc and have heard droves are pulling out because of having to work/ college/ uni etc the next day.
The meal without the hall is itself sorting out to be the best option without the add ons, result so far:D0 -
My idea of hell: forced bon homie with loads of loud noise... that I'm expected to pay for. All very bizarre. It almost makes me want to watch this 'TOWIE' out of sheer curiosity... but not quite:D.She wants to hire the hall so 'everyone can get together, chat and dancd'I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
If I'd told my family and friends I was organising a suprise party for my boyfriend aged 19 to "celebrate our love", I would have been laughed out of the room by everyone...nevermind asking my mum to contribute! :rotfl:
Also, if this is partly for her upcoming birthday and to say goodbye to her mates, WHY is she making it into a surprise party for HIM???
This girl sounds like a little diva in the making, but without the means to fund her TOWIE lifestyle!

Perhaps she is making it into a surprise party for him so that she has an excuse to try and get the OP to fund it?
OP,to be honest I don't know why you've even given any consideration to contributing to it, as it is a totally pointless party. If she wants to have a party to show off to her friends then let her pay for it. Even if she was your daughter asking I would consider it a cheek, never mind your son's girlfriend.0
