She's not pregnant, is she? There has to be more to this...It just seems so incredibly over-the-top and downright cheeky!

I might be wrong! Maybe another tact would be to encourage her to speak to OH and if he's in agreement with this big expensive gathering then you'll consider an appropriate contribution. I appreciate it won't be a surprise but this all seems a bit odd without his consent!

I've had mates move away for work loads and we'd all just meet up in a favourite pub and drink the night away, no expense or requests for a contribution from family.

There must be more to this? I hope you find out what it is!

She said friends moving on, soon her birthday, not seeing him so much, him loving a good party, a get together all under one umbrella

That programme has a lot to answer for lol. My DD's are 21 and 19 and wouldn't dream of spending so much money on something like this. The GF needs a reality check - as do her family by the sound of it! Table decs by Granny - really ?????

I'd be thinking it's enough to be buying your own meal and paying for a fancy dress costume without paying extra to satisfy the GF's wants! But at a push I'd offer to choose/pay for son's costume. That's it!

Ask her if she's planning to propose or if she's pregnant?

If it's done by text you won't see her reaction, and she can't whinge to your son cos it's a surprise anyway :D
  • The more I hear the louder I am screaming don't pay anything. What a little madam.
