Common sense IS boring ....but quite useful
The one thing I have to ask tho OP is............You never carry money (OK if a little short sighted) but you've also stated in two differant posts that you never carry keys either .........so you leave your front door unlocked ....or does the butler let you in ?

I cant believe this thread has got to 10 pages
How much discussion is there in the mechanics of using trolley? More than i thought0 -
So people who are disorganised, or not very bright, or have additional needs, or are just having a bad day shouldn't be helped by retail staff then?
It's a customer service issue and frankly, a common courtesy/decency issue. When did just being nice and trying to help somebody who has a problem become so out of the ordinary?
What do you expect CS to do?
They had already told the OP they could not give her money nor unlock a trolley for her as it was against store policy.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

wow, can't believe how harsh some people have been on here or the totally unhelpful staff at the Asda which OP visited! What happened to the customer is always right? The OP was hardly asking a lot.
All supermarkets which have trolleys which require a £1 coin will have a special 'key' to release a trolley without the need for you to use a £1 coin. I have been caught short without a £1 coin before at Morrisons and Home Bargains and the staff have kindly released a trolley for me with no problems at all.
There is no excuse for such lazy customer service!

I used to believe 'the customer was always right' until I saw the ugliness of the sense of entitlement people seem to have these days. In any case, if people want good customer service they need to pay for it; don't go to cheapo shops and expect them to go the extra mile when they are rushed off their feet and paid peanuts to boot."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." Demonstrate your frustration with paying £1 for the trolly by returning it facing the wrong way. You get your pound back but the next person cant attach their and gets annoyed.
They then vent their frustration by doing the same thing.
It only takes 7 people to do this to cause the average supermarket trolley system to fail.
If enough people did this then it would cause the collapse of the the £1 trolley system as we know it and once again trolleys would be free to all mankind.0
