Hello i am looking for your opinion on whether you would complain about this or not:
I was in Asda and realised i had no change so could not get a trolley ( they require a £1 coin)
I explained to the trolley attendant and asked if he could help me as i was away to do a big shop. his reply was ' I could but id get in trouble so no' and walked away.
I then went to customer service and explained my situation to her her reply was no cant help and carried on serving others.
At this point i literally didnt no what to do as my food would never fit in a basket and im pregnant so shouldnt really be carrying such a heavy load.
Anyway i left i had no other way i could possibly shop and after asking to workers who had no interest i dont feel i want to go back again.
I understand i should have had a £1 coin but come on if someone is away to spend £100+ in your shop surely a little customer service should be offered? ( or any amount of money for that matter)

Why didn't you get cash out, bought one or two of the items you required and made sure you had £1 change to get a trolley????0

Most supermarkets have a cashpoint outside.
Its annoying, but sometimes you have to spend to get change. If Asda start letting people take trolleys without using a pound coin they'd never be able to stop!
I prefer shopping at Tesco partly because you don't have to scrabble around for a pound.0 -
If I had no change or money on me at all I would have bought an item and got cash back or gone to ATM then got it changed. I don't think store should have done anything tbhHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I maybe would complain... depending on my mood. They should have suggested you draw some money and then offered to change it for you. They often do this for me. Asda are not renowned for their customer service... Go to Waitrose if you want that.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Usually Customer Services will have charity trolley discs they can sell you. Did you get offered one of these to buy with your debit card? That's what I've done in the past, I thought it a good idea. Might be worth suggesting if your local store doesn't do this.
But otherwise what did you expect them to do? Give you a free £1 coin out the till?Val.0 -
That would mean having to go to a cash machine, buying a few things, queuing , going to get a trolley, shopping, queuing again. I guess i could have done this but actually didnt think of it at the time. (cash machines are at opposite end)
I really didnt think shopping had to be as difficult as that to be honest.0 -
Short of whipping out the bolt cutters or giving you a pound (which I would never expect someone to do) what did you think he should have done to help?0
-
You went shopping, lacking the ability to do so correctly, and you want to complain about it?
I dont think its Asdas fault you couldnt use their trolley0 -
Aldi lent me a coin and some places have a key thing to help you. I think they should have been a bit more helpful. It is a pain.Maybe they did lend people coins and people forgot to give them back? Mind - they're a big organisation, if you're a regular customer they should be a bit more forth-coming.MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0

I thought they would have gave me a disc which i could have put in the trolley which may other shops do, especially since i was not rude in anyway and kept saying how embarrassed i was not to have change. Or failing that the trolley boy that was putting trolleys away could have helped me out?0
