I think they should of helped if they could. In my Asda the porter (not sure of job title but one who sorts the trolley out) or security have a key thing to unlock the trolleys. Always do it for me because am dozy and forget a £1 and not a problem. Customer service is disgusting in this country. Especially since your pregnant think they would help. I've been to a few Asda's and Tescos who have a key or disc thing to unlock it so i'd imagine most stores do.0

I think the point is sometimes stuff happens, you forget your purse or whatever it is - it would be nice if the supermarket had taken a different approach other than "computer says no".MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0 -
send them a email to head office.. most asdas dont take coins in there trolleys, infact near me i have 4 asdas none of them do ask why not all asdas do this. i would complain .... cant believe customer service dint help you. good job you dint go into labour there , theyd prob charge you 20p to ring 999. good luck
Haha yeh they would probably just get a cleaner to mop up the puddle around me and ignore that im there.0 -
You have still not explained why you didn't buy something to get some change, or ask for change from a note.
Sorry, I don't think you should complain about your lack of common sense.0 -
That's a bit harsh. I don't carry cash with me, it's a complete bind having to get money out for the supermarkets trolleys and sometimes these things aren't planned.
Using this argument nobody should offer returns etc
Dont be ridiculous, the rest of the world manage to get by using asda trolleys on a daily basis, i hardly think there is any need to raise complaint against the shops staff. That would be harsh0 -
You went shopping, lacking the ability to do so correctly, and you want to complain about it?
I dont think its Asdas fault you couldnt use their trolley
This makes me laugh, its the only shop where i am that requires money to shop so no i dont think i did it incorrectly at all. Maybe i am being over the top complaining but i hardly think im shopping incorrectly?0 -
Perhaps the OP was shopping with plastic? in my local Aldi they will loan you a pound! happened to me when I forgot my cash purse and only had my card wallet on me - explained to cashier - no prob, was given a pound coin for the trolley! which of course I returned ASAP!0

I did explain that i never thought to go to a cash machine as i still would not have had change, in hindsight yes i should have done this. I went to a different shop in the end which im glad that i did anyway after being spoken to the way they did.0 -
It's Asda. They're not brilliant at customer service. Given they're owned by an American company, one would think they'd fair better at assisting customers.
As disappointing as this is, OP, you're never going to get anywhere with a complaint. I can't bear Asda as a supermarket, not in our town anyway. Most of the staff have very few teeth and look unkempt. One had a pen behind his ear and this was a few years ago, he gave me his pen when I had to initial cashback. Eugh...0 -
You assume everyone has a keyring - I've used these in the past - but if I don't have my house keys with me that plan falls down.
I suppose I do assume that. I never leave the house without my house keys, I thought that was pretty standard. Most people who go to supermarkets drive there too, so would have car keys.0
