I never said i should receive special treatment?

That's what it sounds like. I don't see why you would expect Asda to provide you with a trolley because you didn't have the cash, it sort of makes their entire system pointless if they start handing them out.

Sorry I'm not trying to be catty, I just don't understand why you would expect them to not implement their system.

Well here's the thing - the customer complains and they can do something about it. They may not have been able to give her coin, but how about getting a device instore that unlocks the trolley - Aldi has them - problem solved. They can't do anything about it if she doesn't say so. There is an alternative easy solution for the odd customer who's forgotten to bring a coin.

If they had a device to unlock the trolley surely they would have done it for the £££ OP was going to spend rather than let her leave?

Obviously they didn't have anything to help her which is why I'm asking what people are expecting them to have done.

It's great if supermarkets lend pounds out when we've been forgetful but I can't imagine many do.

I just don't see how the OP not realising or forgetting she needed change is the fault of the supermarket

Not really; if they want people to shop there then perhaps make it easier for them to shop there...

However I detest all supermarkets and think they are all scum of the earth.

The Sainsburys near me does! Maybe it depends on the area and how likely the trolleys are to get nicked!

I hope they don't start at my local one as I would save a fortune and only do basket sized shops!!!

I am not for one minute saying i should receive special attention because im pregnant but i don't think i should be carrying an overflowing basket around with me. It wasn't that i didn't have the correct change if this was the case i would simply have asked the lady if i could change money ( although judging by her response i would have probably got a no) it was the fact i only had a bank card and we have already established the fact i should have gone to the cash mahine but like i said this didnt cross my mind.

The baskets in my local Asda's charge £5, only payable by 20p coins...

    ...I always forget my 20p's

I think there is only Tesco that doesn't want £1 for trolleys.. and B&Q.

Just keep a £1 coin in the car at all times.. what is the problems?

I think you are well OTT with this one.. shop online.. it saves you loads of hassle, you spend less because you don't get those fancyings as you trot round .. only downside is you don't get to rifle the reduced stuff.

No cash needed (apart from in the bank) you can shop when it is convenitent (usually 2am here) you can shop naked if you want :p.. and have a cuppa and biscuits and your armchair.. heavenly!
