and once again trolleys would be free to all mankind.

To end up in canals, rivers and railway lines. There is a reason why they are £1 in more built up areas. Don't forget lost trolleys have to be replaced and the cost will be passed onto the consumer.

(I'm pretty sure it was a joke, I smiled anyway! :o)
  • once in Asda my trolley and pound coin were pinched from behind me as I waited at customer service!I was told it had happened to a workmate too.Money saving to shop at Asda mmmm.
It would have been nice if someone could have given guidance and help,or even a suggestion or apology to the poster. To me it sounds as if they just could not be bothered, although maybe the staff get scammed too and now tar everyone with the same brush.

Why, they're doing great while the high street shops are closing down.

This is just another case of someone who's not organised enough to have a £1 or token and then expecting someone else to sort it out and moaning when they don't.

Well actually I don't think all of them are doing quite as well as they were!

And actually, this is perhaps one time when I WOULD expect the supermarket to assist. As I keep saying, it is in their interests to hold on to their customers.

There is a trolley in the garden across the road from me if anyone wants a freebie.. I think it is an asda one.. you could keep it at home and sling it in the car to go shopping and simply lift it back into the car when you've paid and off you go...

It doesn't have a 'free quid' or I'd have nabbed myself already.

But otherwise what did you expect them to do? Give you a free £1 coin out the till?

a security guard from B&M BARGAINS took £1 out of a tin and put it in a trolley for me - simply asking me to return it afterwards :p

I've read this thread not through interest but through disbelief. Disbelief that of all the subjects brought up in this forum - some of which are very significant, almost heart wrenching - the one that gets an incredibly high number of responses (200) is one about the most tedious of subjects. And to boot, it's been placed in the marriage and relationship forum. Why has it been posted here? Since when has shopping trolley management been a subject that results in divorce, suicide, anxiety, depression, comas, imprisonment or inclusion on the sex offenders list?

And the fact that someone has actually posted a story about it is beyond me. Has the OP not got a life to lead? I thought she was pregnant. Shouldn't she be preparing for Mothethood and reading the likes of Spock, Opie, et al rather than trying to involve us all in the tedium of her life? I have no doubt the OPs Facebook updates are along the lines of 'getting up now" 'having wheat-o-bangs' for breakfast' 'watching Jeremy Kyle' 'toast for lunch' 'off to bed'

This is just another example of 'I couldn't be bothered to do something (in this case, have loose change) and I expect someone else to sort the problem out'.

    Give me strength.

Talking about misplaced posts, maybe you should have posted this in the "rant" section. (unfortunately) there does not appear to be a "bitter" section or I would have suggested you put it there
  • sounds like you have CARP Asda!!!!! and their customer service sucks I love my local ASDA( which is huge) and their customer service is brilliant and I have asked the attendees to unlock a trolley for me no hassle( on numerous occassions) when I have lost my trolley coin or forgotten my £1, but then again, I'm In ASDA so often( as my job involves buying food( and lots of it) that the cashiers know me by name!
