I havent read all the comments only got to page 2. But personally I dont think u are going overboard. I am forever without a £1 as I hardly ever have cash on me and I lose those charity pound things all the time. Customer service has always given me a trolley, sainsburys even gave me a £1 out of the till to use once!!!

Cool... could be one for the grabbit board :D

    Happy moneysaving all.

I am with OP on this. If a supermarket want to take £100 off me every week then they need to make it easy and comfortable for me to shop. Not exactly rocket science ( to quote another poster). To the various posters who think it simply a matter of organisation to always have a £1 coin in your purse or car 'pot'. Clearly they do not have other family members who routinely need parking money or lunch or bus money- and definitely no teenagers. First place any of my lot look if they are short on the way out in the morning.

I stopped going to ASDA after a very odd conversation with two members of staff when they seemed to think DD age 8 was unreasonably prudish to offended when confronted by several magazines at her eye height by the entrance- displaying topless women. Apparently the computer told the staff where the magazines should go and they were unable to move them higher.
  • i have done this regular i dnt carry cash so i simply go in the shop explain adn they give me eaither one of those £thingys or a £coin and ask me to returne it after shopping

which i do , i would complain and wuld have asked for the manager in the shop who im sure wuld have assisted you ,

ring or email asda and express your disapointment and concern for lack of customer care/service

I know there are some very organised people on here, that prepare and never make mistakes.

How very lucky - for the rest of us who aren't perfect, have a million and one other things to think about, don't carry keys, a handbag and know that any money sat in a car will be used up by some other b****r and might do a last minute shop, especially if you go in wanting a couple of items and discover other things on offer that would be useful.

All we ask in our moments of maybe forgetting to bring a pound coin (I've forgotten plenty of charity ones), a just for a little bit of courtesy even if nobody can do anything to help.

While the perfect may sneer at the world's disorganised, I'm afraid it happens - I only wish that remembering a pound coin was a priority in my life, just as having a tidy house, etc, but it isn't so sometimes things do get forgotten. I cannot look after 3 other people and work full time and remember the other bits in between.

Has it really become the norm that people wander around without - literally - any money at all?

I have the grand total of 13p, 3 hair clips, 2 window lock keys and a bobble in my purse.. that is usual for me, I never have a bean on me.

    2 window lock keys

Why don't you have any front door keys?
Or is climbing through the window more convenient?

I think there is only Tesco that doesn't want £1 for trolleys.. and B&Q.

Just keep a £1 coin in the car at all times.. what is the problems?

I think you are well OTT with this one.. shop online.. it saves you loads of hassle, you spend less because you don't get those fancyings as you trot round .. only downside is you don't get to rifle the reduced stuff.

No cash needed (apart from in the bank) you can shop when it is convenitent (usually 2am here) you can shop naked if you want :p.. and have a cuppa and biscuits and your armchair.. heavenly!

No, our local Asda does not charge for trolleys so maybe they need to be more consistent. We were caught out once at a different branch thinking trolleys were free at all Asda shops.

In my car we have specific £ coins for exactly this...the shopping trolley, saves hunting around for it, in my purse I have a little section where a £ is always in there for the shopping trolley and often 20p for the loo (which I absolutely bedgrudge:eek: but hey it's there)

So, preperation prevents poor performance, this could have been so easily avoided with a plastic trolley coin, having a £ on your person just for this exact reason, involving Asda and customer services because you can't take responsibility for having a coin is

But not everyone is perfect. People make mistakes and forget things. In those instances is it really asking too much of a supermarket, bearing in mind the current economical climate and supermarket competition, to help out someone who is about to spend their hard earned cash on their premises?

My God, supermarkets should be bending over backwards to hold on to their customers these days!!!

this might be the reason I have one of those disc things on my keys. If i've forgotten my keys, something is very wrong.
