First thanks for your replies.
Regarding baggage allowance misprint,we booked online with carltonleisure,Surrey or south London based travel agents and then we went to emirates online, weight allowance was 40 kg for my wife,30 kg for my daughter and 10 kg for my son (but showed 30 kg in print but in small notes said infants are allowed 10 kg).
But we are happy to get rid of excess and they warned saying that only 1 minute left and while we went along with him they refused to allow us boarding.
Even when i was travelling back their flight was 75 minutes late and they checked me 15 minutes before actual flight and their staff and security actually escorted me to plane. when we complained they incorrectly claimed that my wife got 30 kg allowance and they said that i got rude (complaint was lodged by her).
Re bag that was a crockery box (of some sort of stone my wife bought) which sells in UK by departmental stores for 600-750 but she spend half of this. Multiple pieces were found broken but we reported it after reaching as we didn't checked right at time of collection.0 -

Were the contents declared to the airline at checkin and clearly marked as Fragile. (airlines often will place a "limited release" tag on fragile items which means they accept them for carriage but take no responsibility for breakage so it is up to you whether you want to take the risk)
How long did you have from being told you had excess to being told you had only one minute? If you were quite late for the checkin closure time and therefore only had 5 minutes or so, were you not given the option at checkin to pay for the excess (then you could have taken it up with the agent later)0 -
Thanks it was AirIndia -so not a European carrier. Is it worth getting one of the no win no fee claims companies to fight it for me ?
EU compensation does not apply so a NWNF is not going to change that. You could check your travel insurance and see if they pay anything although it is usually a minimal amount eg £20 for each 12 hour delay0 -
I still don't know what the question is?
It appears that the OP didn't check in on time, as confirmed by the airport security/duty manager, and was also overweight, having not checked their tickets for the correct documentation for the weight that they were carrying.
A claim for damages is ultimately under the Montreal Convention, assuming you reported it at the time etc0 -
No claim I'm afraid Tali.0

could anyone recommend good NWNF people for delay compensation? I am in Carlisle Cumbria, so I don't know whether they have to be nearby to us or it doesn't matter.
Thanks for all your input..0 -

Covered comprehensively on the forum. Use the search functionality.
I'd speak to the ones taking the Huzar appeal although I haven't used them myself. Again, search for details0 -
I'm astounded after problems flying out -the OP also checked in late for his return flight.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Ok lets make things straight forward,my questions are
1) If a flight is delayed, will check in time stays with scheduled time or extends with delay?
2) Can an airline counter staff can refuse to check in passengers,if they are just couple of minutes late while their flight is also late?
3) Can being over weight is enough excuse to refuse check in of passengers?
4) In same trip, i mean on return flight, they even went on accepting luggage more then permissible and also also allowed to board a passenger even just 15 minutes before flight time? Does this substantiates that on Gatwick their team was excessively harsh?
5) When complained they failed to investigate properly, allowed luggage was 40 kg but they claimed it was 30 kg and so stated other facts which can be refuted with tickets as evidence?
6) In above scenario is there anything else i can do?
thanks0 -

It would be the norm for the checkin to close at the original scheduled time and the paperwork to be completed - there may be exceptions (eg when the later flight is also delayed and they will be looking to move people from the later flight onto the earlier flight)
2) Can an airline counter staff can refuse to check in passengers,if they are just couple of minutes late while their flight is also late?
If you miss the published checkin time then "yes" - this is usually x minutes before scheduled departure time
3) Can being over weight is enough excuse to refuse check in of passengers?
You will have purchased a seat + x kgs of baggage. If overweight then the choice is to pay for the additional weight or reduce the weight to the amount on the ticket.
4) In same trip, i mean on return flight, they even went on accepting luggage more then permissible and also also allowed to board a passenger even just 15 minutes before flight time? Does this substantiates that on Gatwick their team was excessively harsh?
Getting away with excess baggage in one direction does not mean that they were wrong at Gatwick. Which flight were you allowed to board 15 mins before departure, if at Dubai, you will have already been checked in and your bags tagged though and your figures would have been included in the flight paperwork. It would have been easier to let you on at T-15 mins than offload passengers and baggage and recalculate the load sheet
5) When complained they failed to investigate properly, allowed luggage was 40 kg but they claimed it was 30 kg and so stated other facts which can be refuted with tickets as evidence?
Who did you purchase your ticket from that told you it was 40kg.
6) In above scenario is there anything else i can do?
thanks
Can you clarify the following from your original post
1) who issued the ticket with the incorrect baggage allowance
2) how long before checkin closure did you present yourselves at checkin
3) How long did you take sorting out your baggage
It sounds like you either went to checkin fairly late and did not have much time to sort out baggage or took a long time to sort out the baggage thinking checkin would remain open for you
If you were sure that 40kgs was correct you could have paid for the excess to ensure that you made the flight and then made a claim for a refund0
