  • Hi there,

I am new to the forums and wondered if anyone could help me.

In January I was flying Heathrow to Abu Dhabi then Abu Dhabi to Sydney. On our first flight we ended up with a technical fault with the plane which resulted in us circling and dropping fuel for 2 hours before landing at an alternate airport, 2.5 hours away. Once we landed we were sat on the plane for 3 hours before heading back to Abu Dhabi's international airport, which by then we had missed our connecting flight. This resulted with us being delayed 18 hours.

I have been in talks with Etihad for the last 3 weeks where they have offered me 25,000 air miles, which I turned down and then came back with 30,000 air miles. I replied saying that I didn't want air miles, I'd prefer the cash, which they replied saying that I can put it on some card so I can spend the miles that way, but that only works out at £150.

So my question is shall I accept this offer or am I entitled to more? Any help would be appreciated.

You are entitled to €600 per person.

might be worth working through the FAQs here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4445423 and using that thread if you have other queries

I have been in talks with Etihad for the last 3 weeks where they have told me we are not entitled to compensation as we were only delayed 2 hours and as a good will gesture offered me 25,000 air miles. This would of been fine if we had landed at the airport stated on our tickets but this was not the case as they need to take in account the rest of the delay back to Abu Dhabi. I turned down this offer on that bases where and then came back with 30,000 air miles. I replied saying that I didn't want air miles I would prefer the cash, which they replied saying that I can put it on some card so I can spend the miles that way, but that only works out at £150.

Kelly: you are entitled to more (€600 per paying passenger in fact) but you may need to start court action before the airlines plays fair. I was involved with someone claiming in similar circumstances from Qatar Airways - they threw in the towel before it went to court! Unsurprisingly!

    Hi,

My flight on United Airlines was cancelled because there was a faulty part and I was put on a flight on the next day. Am I able to claim compensation as United are not a UK Based carrier? Also, does someone have a link to how to claim from United Airlines.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

I posted this in the wrong forum. My wife and 2 kids were supposed to fly United Airlines on Thursday 10 April but their flight was cancelled due to a faulty part. They were rebooked on the flight for the next day Friday 11 April. Can I claim compensation from United Airlines for this? How do I go about making the claim?

    Kind regards,

Yes you did. It should be on "Flight delay compensation, US and Canadian Airlines". You also created a new thread.

Read the FAQs where you will find all the information that you need. If you don't want to do that, speak to a no win no fee firm.
