Does anyone know how to claim without flight details as according to the FAQs you can, I've just had this come through from United?
Dear *****
Unfortunately, we are not able to access the microfiche system to
access 2008 records without your flight details.
Kind Regards,
Keysha Morrison0 -
If it was before November 2008 you are too late anyway, the time limit for claims is 6 years so unless it was late November or December, you can stop worrying0

Yes, I'm aware of that Alan, but if that's the case then what's this about? You can apply for compensation for any past delays, stretching back as far as February 2005.0

Remember these are EU regulations and the timescale to take the airline to court will vary by country. England/Wales is 6 years, Scotland is 5 years. If you are claiming in a country where you can go to court after 9 years then they are likely to pay out for a 2005 delay but not if they don't need to
you can indeed make a claim, what happens is you make a claim and the airline knows as it is over 6 years you cannot take them to court if they decline your claim
don't know of any airlines that are paying out for claims over 6 years old and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it0 -
Thanks Caz.
I've done quite a bit of searching with regards to the claim without flight details, but to no avail. If anyone does find anything then I'd be grateful, thanks. If I find anything meanwhile then I'll post. I've just found some records to sift through.0 -
do you still have the stamp in your passport, then you will have the date (and I assume you know the route) you can then search on flightstats for the flight number and length of delay0

Thanks Caz I got the flight number! I should've looked there to begin with instead of sifting through Heathrow Archives.0

I have contacted American Airlines by email and also sent a letter by recorded delivery and had no response to either .
What would be the best way to proceed in claiming compensation for my cancelled flight.0 -
I received a letter today from United, dated 18th November, in response to my asking them to reconsider my claim given the latest court ruling.
They stated that they considered our case closed and that no compensation was due. They also said that they would enter into no further correspondence on the issue!!
Then, around 4pm I got an email from them, telling me to ignore the letter and that, after reconsideration, compensation in full was now due!!
They included the claim forms to complete and return. Once the claim forms are processed they will issue prepaid debit cards for the full amount to each member of our party.
It's taken over a year and numerous emails but finally a result. It pays to be persistent and not let them fob you off.
One very happy family tonight! The Daily Mail
