Flight delay compensation, US and Canadian Airlines

Hi
We have been having lots of e mail conversations with CAA after united Airlines originally turned us down for our compensation having cancelled our flight for 24 hours. Well we received an e mail on the 4th of December from Customer Services Manager at United Airlines advising that we were entitled to compensation and to confirm our e mail address. I am expecting to have through the forms tomorrow so we can get on with our claiming.
There is no way that I though nearly 2 years later this would happen and we were unsure if we were going to go down the route of taking them to court - just in case.
Watch this space and thank you all for the help you gave me at the start when I was new to this process.

I received a letter today from United, dated 18th November, in response to my asking them to reconsider my claim given the latest court ruling.
They stated that they considered our case closed and that no compensation was due. They also said that they would enter into no further correspondence on the issue!!
Then, around 4pm I got an email from them, telling me to ignore the letter and that, after reconsideration, compensation in full was now due!!
They included the claim forms to complete and return. Once the claim forms are processed they will issue prepaid debit cards for the full amount to each member of our party.
It's taken over a year and numerous emails but finally a result. It pays to be persistent and not let them fob you off.
One very happy family tonight!
Thanks for your help0 -
Hi
We received an e mail from United yesterday with the claim forms attached offering the full 600 Euros per person but in a Citibank prepaid debit card as long as we complete the forms within 180 days of receipt.
Has taken nearly two years but we might actually be getting somewhere.... watch this space.

You are entitled to cash if you wish.
I am not intending to debate the merits of a pre-paid debit card counting as cash (or as good as, some might say). But IMO cash paid into your bank account cannot be lost or stolen while you are out shopping and can be spent anywhere, not just places that accept debit cards. The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.0 -

Hi Magsnoodle, who was your contact at United if you don't mind me asking - I'm currently preparing for a hearing in March but would be grateful for another contact.
Best regards0 -
#Hi, out of interest who did you contact to reconsider - did you use the online form or go back to a specific person- I'm due in court with United in March regarding our delay, have contacted them again recently but not had any reply.
Thanks for your help

I sent an email to custo@coair.com to start off my process with United Airlines about 18 months ago. They emailed me last week to say they will send me a Citibank prepaid card if I fill in a form and send it to the UA address in Hounslow. :beer:0

Well done!! Should be just in time for Christmas too.:T
You could ask them for a bank transfer instead if you're not happy with a pre pay card.
I don't think I would trust it in the Christmas post plus it should be quicker too. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

There is also the possibility that the pre-pay card comes with T&C's that allow charges and fees to be levied against the card just for using it (or even for not using it!).The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.0 -

Hi Shell,

Hope this is useful.
Really appreciated the advice about getting it paid directly into the bank and not using a prepaid debit card. Thank you all.
