Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

Hi all, am new here so please bear with me. we boarded our plane home at 21.15 and as it was pushed out of its space the pilot informed us that the starter motor wasnt working so we were being pushed back to the stand. we were then informed that our flight was being delayed till 11.00 the next morning and we were being sent to a hotel overnight. when we arrived at the airport the next morning for an 11.00 flight were booked in with a different flight number and new boarding passes. the new flight then took off 3 hrs late.
i looked the first flight number up and it was showing as cancelled would i put 2 claims in ? and would i claim 1 as a cancellation ? and 1 as a delay ?

Details required as if 2nd flight 3 hours late in taking off unlikely to be 3 hours late in arriving. Sort this one out first by posting on here then we can revert to original cancelled flight.

Flight number, destination, date etc required as take off times have no bearing whatsoever on your ability to make a claim. The arrival time compared to the scheduled arrival time is the key and unless you advise relevant detail no one can check the logs for your flight.

It's 7424. And it's status is not showing up on flightstats.co.uk. But if you took off three hours late, I bet you made that up in the air by just enough to bring you under 3 hours late at destination ...

Are you sure of this flight number as I can only find EasyJet 7424 from PMI to Southend on that day with plane being Airbus319. As previously stated the departure and actual take off time have NO BEARING WHATSOVER - it is the arrival time which is important compared with the scheduled arrival time.

The original flight number was EZY7424 but when we returned to airport to check in again they gave us a new flight number of EZY9424. The details on the boarding pass are flight: EZY9424 date: 16th aug departure time : 11.00 booking ref : ELLBX6M. the flight took off at 14.00 Majorca time and landed 15.00 uk time.

Well you are so close to the 3 hour threshold that I doubt very much (without definitive proof) that you are going to persuade EJ on this flight that you were delayed over 3 hours.
Were any conditions attached to your cancelled flight 7424 on 15.08.13? Were you given a written explanation as to the cancellation?
