Flight delay and cancellation compensation, Easyjet ONLY

Hi there
Hoping you clever people can help out with a question!
My parents live in the Isle of Man and last winter were due to fly back from Gatwick to the Isle of Man. It was around the time of the bad weather and there was snow. There flight was delayed by 5 days (not a typo it actually was 5 days!) with Easyjet claiming weather as the cause.
However on all of these days there were flights both leaving Gatwick and arriving in the Isle of Man. Indeed Flybe were flying from Gatwick to the Isle of Man on these days.
They initially wrote to Easyjet who (surprise surprise) rejected the claim. They then wrote to the CAA who backed the claim. They again contacted Easyjet with this information but again they rejected the claim.
Presumably they have a claim as it has been backed by the CAA but what would the next step be?
I'm thinking small claims court or should they do a LBA first? If so are there any templates?
Also presumably it would be through the small claims court in the Isle of Man?
Many thanks for any help

Hi all.
Was wondering if anyone could help. I flew Easyjet on the 11th December 2010 from Munich to Stansted. Delay was 3 hours plus as, and there were 3 reasons given: bad weather (check-in Lady), original plane was faulty so had to get another from Newcastle (air hostess) and finally the best one: original plane flew to Newcastle by mistake (pilot/first officer).
Now I've tried to find the landing time but it doesn't state what time departure was nor landing time. I know for certain the delay was 3 hours+, but as I can't find proof, would I still be able to claim?
Kind regards and thank you for reading.

Firstly advise flight number/time/destinations and someone may be able to assist/throw more light on reason for delay.
You should check departure airport/airlines for departures on or around same time as yours to establish if there is a common (weather related?) delay situation.
From here you should be able to establish if there was an extraordinary circumstance (weather) or if you have a valid reason to claim.0 -
The email from the CAA said they had referred the complaint back to EasyJet for reconsideration. So do I wait and see if anything comes of that before sending a NBA, and if so how long?
It is entirely up to you. But if you sit and wait, you are waiting at their convenience. If you issue a NBA letter and subsequently start legal proceedings, they move to your timetable. How confident are you that the airline will honestly and constructively reassess your claim? If you trust them to do this fairly, you might as well sit tight. If not ...0 -
Hello,
I recently travelled from EDI to LIS on Easyjet.
We taxi'd to the runway twice only to be told there was a hydraulic fault and we'd have to disembark.
The flight was scheduled to leave at 07:00 and in reality left on a replacement plane nearer 20:00.
The flightstats website doesnt have sufficient info to record the flight details due to the aborted departure so I cannot see the actual details.
I called Easyjet for info and they told me that this was extrodinary circumstances and I cannot make a claim.
Is this true or should I start a claim?
Also my party consisted of 2 adults, a 3 year old and an infant (4 months) can I claim for all four passengers?
We were supplled with a total of £80 of refreshment vouchers and nothing else, does that have any impact?0 -

Technical problem does not = extraordinary circumstances.
Start claim.
Claim for all people who paid.
£80 vouchers have no impact.0 -
Thanks for that. As it was over 12 hours can claim for a refund of the flight cost or have I misunderstood the legislation?
Also the infant cost was £20 each way, is this still entitled?0 -
